A couple of Aussies embarking on some of the most famous Pilgrimages in Europe. Starting in the small French Village of Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port at the foot of the Pyrenees Mountains, we ventured out with many other Pilgrims on the Camino Frances, even though our journey on this particular pilgrimage ends in the City of Pamplona, our overall Pilgrimages which include this part of the Frances, The Camino del Norte, from San Sebastian to Santander, and to finish off with the Camino Primitivo, starting at the Cathedral in Oviedo and finishing like all the Caminos at the Santiago de Compostella. Our first day out took us halfway up the Pyrenees Mountains to the Auberge at Orisson. A perfect end to a first day and we met the most wonderful people both Pilgrims and the Staff at the Auberge. An early start to the second day to complete the climb up and over the Pyrenees Mountain and down the other side to our stay for the night in the Monastery at Roncesvalles. Once we got our beds it was off to a communal meal for dinner which was amazing and the conversation at the tables in multiple languages was a delight to listen to. An early breakfast then off hiking thru numerous small villages meeting new Pilgrims along the Way and finally making it into the amazing small village of Zubiri. Another amazing communal dinner was enjoyed by us all and once again meeting new Pilgrims that we hadn't seen before, never ending flow of Pilgrims. Our final day took us thru to the City of Pamplona, certainly a place to come back at another time to spend more time exploring.
The Camino Frances being the most popular and famous of all Caminos' really lived up to its name, a truly amazing adventure
