Dear Tim - I got real sick not long before my planned 200 mile Camino Primitivo in Sept. 2023. Could not do the walk, so I just went as a tourist; changed my whole itinerary. Now I'm changing gears, planning on the Portugese from Tui in Sept, 2026. Somewhat different then yours: fly into Lisbon, train to Tui. After the Camino, high speed train to Madrid, then fly back home. Your video was super...showed much of the scenery, unlike most youtubers who the focus of the video is themselves. Am I right that you went with a tour, so your luggage got forwarded each day? I plan on carrying an Osprey pack which I already have, stay in private albergues. Again, kudos on a well done video.

I sometimes second guess myself at insisting she take the reward, I hoped it did not come off as forcing her. I was, however, so very grateful. I felt she deserved something for her kindness. I was also so very lucky to have had my 360 camera filming my crossing the bridge when it happened.

Thanks for sharing your walk with us, Tim - it looks like a dream come true:-) I'll be going this September and have a better idea of what to expect from your pictures, videos and information. I love the music which accompanied this picture journal. Would you please share that also? THANKS!!!!
@TimothyDonahue Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comments. The music was royalty free from Shutterstock. I used a video editing software called PowerDirector 360, a subscription-based software. The subscription included access to a limited database of royalty-free music and images. I searched terms like Spanish, flamingo, and such to find background music that gave the feel of Spain and, at times, a building cadence to my video. The Camino Shell animations at the beginning and end of my videos were also accessible in pay to use section available through the software as well. I don't remember the price, but they were inexpensive, as I recall. I chose PowerDirector because I could try it before buying it, and significant KZbin videos showing how to work the software are available. The cameras I used were instrumental in giving the appearance that I was not the one shooting the videos. Good luck with your Camino. Tim

The route I walked was called the Central Route. There were some impressive hills but not many. You can work with your booking company to break up some stages so there are not over stressful days. I will do this for my next camino this fall.

Thank you for your comments. If I were to do Tui to Santiago de Compostela again at the age and condition you noted, I would make the following changes to my itinerary. There were two places my tour company noted that my days could be split. The first was between O Porrino and Vilaboa. O Porrino and Redondela was about 11.5 miles. I would stop here because the next 5 miles are 2 1/2 uphill and 2 1/2 downhill. After that experience, I decided to split the last day into two; it was an approximately 18-mile leg before I made my changes. Why arrive exhausted. My tour company, santiagoways.com, was beneficial. I stayed in a private room with a bath each night, my luggage was transported each day, and they had the option to have breakfast and dinner each day at my hotel, which I took as part of my package.

@@TimothyDonahue Thank you so very much for your input Tim,much obliged.I hope I get up the courage to do it.Its on my bucket list, my knees are not as good as they used to be, although I have some experience in trekking in my youth in the Himalayas,moderate hikes mostly at around 8000 to9000 ft. elevation I was in my 20s and 30s at that time.

Towns are so close together that you almost always can call a cab and take one back to the same place in the morning if you have a bad day. The only guarantee is if you don't go, you will never finish. Looking back, I would have still been grateful for the days I did finish if I did not make it to the end. GO.

Watch until end. I did the Ingles way in July 2023, found the hills challenging. The Tui route seems rough only the one day you said 2.5 up and 2.5 down, is that valid. I want to do 1 more, and was thinking of this route. I did mine solo, wish had someone to hug at the square and say "We did it", did you feel that way when you saw others? Oh the scallops, in US I only ever had the round part, the whole thing on the shells - delicious. Thanks for the video, and what 360 camera did you use, I like it?
@TimothyDonahue Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. I answer again and more thoroughly when I'm at my computer.
@TimothyDonahue Жыл бұрын
There are some hills, but the only one I found challenging was the one you noted in your comment. I did have the option of splitting this leg in two days and finishing for the day in Arcade (I think it was called). Had I done that, I would have been fresh and just did the hill as another leg. I believe it would have been much easier than taking it on after first walking about 10 miles beforehand. I used the Insta360 X2. It does a beautiful job, and the included editing software takes out the pole, making it look like someone else is taking the videos.

(see? i already have some spanish under my belt...he he)

I used an Insta360 for the shots that looked like a drone took them. I had a 3-meter carbon fiber pole that the software removed from the images giving the impression of a drone shot. I used this technique for the circular video in front of the cathedral and several others. Good luck.

placidobaamonde6374; There was no intent to disrespect anyone or anything. I am not from your area and would not be familiar with the objections you have raised, however valid they may be. My intent is essential; my goal was to add a pleasant musical background to the video I produced. The placement of most of the music was random, as I switched the pieces several times before finally making the video. I will leave your comments up as others might have similar concerns, and they are also welcome to comment. Music aside, I hope you enjoyed the video.
