If you ask me, they are releasing this too soon. I am a Mastercam user since the early 80’s and use Mastercam as part of our Engineering curriculum at our university . We use the stock setup all the time to preview the tool path prior to posting and machining. What used to literally be two clicks to define the stock (solid or wireframe) has now turned into a confusing mess of clicks and re-clicks. Instead of fixing the bugs of version 2022, we continue on with unfinished version 2023. I guess it’s all about the money and not the quality anymore.

Not ready for release yet I’ll stay with 2022 for now. Thanks for the heads up !

You need to launch verify with the with the new button add into the drop down next to verify to use the machine group settings in verify. It’s call “verify selected machine group”
@CamInstructor2 жыл бұрын
This doesn't have any different effect. Still no transfer of information from MGS to simulation.
@edlove13502 жыл бұрын
It works on my end. 1. Set up using the new machine group set up. 2. Create a toolpath 3. Start verify using “verify selected machine group” This will pull in your settings from the mc group. From the verify window you can you machine sim and the settings from machine should work.
@CamInstructor2 жыл бұрын
Nope. Nothing is being transferred. No fixtures, no change in selected machine. Nothing is hooked up.

Thanks for covering this, I always try to align a new job with top when I start a new job. I think I will stick with 2022 for awhile, I like the changes but my time is valuable and I don't like doing things twice. Hopefully they fix these issues in a update.

The new stock menu is a 100% deal breaker for me. 98% of my stock are based off wireframe, which I use select corners for. Unless they bring that back, 2022 will be the last version of Mastercam I use.
@MrAndyjobo2 жыл бұрын
YES! OMG, yes this is exactly what I do. Under this new version, we'll now have to essentially create the same bounding box twice; once so we can locate our WCS and again just to simulate stock. It boggles the mind why the new stock setup is so limited.

Thanks for the video, can you please make a video on material library and explain how to use it and advantages of it. If it is already made please share the link. Really appreciate your help, thanks in advance 🙂

If you’re using a custom plane for the stock setup. Click the “box” option in the “simulator option” that will take care of it, without creating another plane
@CamInstructor2 жыл бұрын
Can't use box for any stock models or other toolpath calcs.

can you do a 2021 -> 2023 comparison for mold making (3 axis and 5 axis seperated) as well as calculation time?
@CamInstructor2 жыл бұрын
What specifically are you wanting to see? Just toolpath calc times? Or changes in certain toolpaths?

Why do they release it so early? It seems like sometimes when they release a new version it messes up the old one
@edlove13502 жыл бұрын
If you lock the WCS plane before setting up stock on the angle Mastercam automatically duplicates the plane to create the shifted stock plane.
@CamInstructor2 жыл бұрын
That's a way to work around having to duplicate the plane, but the point is you shouldn't need a second plane. This is not how Mastercam has behaved in the past and there is no documentation of this needed step so I can only assume it is not intended behavior.

I will say I agree with all Mastercam has gone down hill . I can’t seem to fix my half menus problem. The stock menus will not fully open so you can’t use half the menu. Then it’s also when you try to add a lathe chuck half the menu is present or it just crashes . I’m going back to my old reliable Edgecam . It’s way better in my opinion than Mastercam just way more expensive . Ohhh and better have an 8 gig Graphics card and ditch that old monitor. You going to need a much more robust resolution. I have spend 3 days already on the phone trying to get this shit to work . No luck No clue and I’m done I have a shop to run lol .

There are some things that annoy me, but overall I would say Mastercam is improving...a lot. But I get where you're coming from. I'm surprised your reseller was not able to solve your problems quicker.
@MrAndyjobo2 жыл бұрын
This is awful. In 2022 I would create a bounding box around my part so that I could put my WCS on one of its corners, and then I would also use it for Stock Setup picking "select corners". Under this new version, none of that works. I will now have to basically create my bounding box twice. First to locate my WCS, and again within the Stock Setup menus, which, for *some* crazy reason won't let us select corners.

Are you kidding?! In order to create a stock I have to create two planes now?
@CamInstructor2 жыл бұрын
That bug has since been patched. Everything works as it should now.

All these extra steps are really annoying and disappointing. Adding so many extra steps is designed to slow us down? I am going to wait a very long time before downloading this version and will send this video to our reseller and have them let me know if/when it becomes usable. Am going to miss stock set up, I hate bounding box, so annoying!

Fusion 360 is way faster and easier op two stock now has stock continue from previous setup with one click ad a way more affordable price. seems like master cam wants to be like fusion360 without trying to be as easy a fusion 360
@CamInstructor2 жыл бұрын
Faster and easier? Post a video and show us how much faster and easier it is.
@performz28 Жыл бұрын
@@CamInstructor lol, seems like you have not tried other software packages...bobcad, featurecam & fusion 360 (F.C. & 360 are now owened by the same company) are very light & easy to navigate (they don't need gamers' computers to function properly). I've used them (all 3 of them) but most machine shops use mastercam due to its popularity. Even though is not the best. I'm not bragging by the way, mastercam has a heavy/bulky/cluttered-up feeling to it, let alone the glitches & crashes specially when windows is running updates in the background. Been using mastercam for many years (by necessity). Be open minded & try other stuff & compare it yourself.
@CamInstructor Жыл бұрын
@@performz28 You know what they say about assuming....? I've used many CAM softwares over the years, Mastercam, Fusion, Esprit, HSMWorks, SolidworksCAM, to name a few. Some I only have a few months experience with, others like Mastercam, Fusion, Esprit, I have years of seat time. So again, if you want to claim something is 'better' 'faster', please post a video and share your experience with the rest of us.
@performz28 Жыл бұрын
@@CamInstructor lol, we're going be back & forth on this subject, but, you're right, "assume nothing" I was told once, but you asked for "an example" to show you the simplicity of other software. I've learned that "to each its own", please do videos your self: 1 - "to teach us the simplicity/mastery of mastercam" compared to other software packages since you claimed to "have used them all", Also, record the crashes & glitches that have been lingering around for DECADES (you must be very familiar with those btw). Even with powerful systems mastercam keeps crashing, cutting -off wireframe when modifying parameters & glitching in the branch manager. You have a great day sir & keep enjoying mastercam (the best cam software) as an instructor.
@CamInstructor Жыл бұрын
@@performz28 I am unfamiliar with 'crashes & glitches that have been around for decades' or 'wireframe being cutoff'. I do post about issues in Mastercam, this video you are commenting on is just that. If you don't use Mastercam, why are you here taking the time to bash it? If you think it sucks and have moved on, why do you care if other people prefer to use it? The only thing I asked OP was to show a video of what was 'way faster and easier', which never did appear. I don't care what software anyone uses. If what you are using is capable of something new and ground breaking, I'd love to see it!

Solidworks developers seemed to have taken over completely.... Too CLUTTERED-UP compared to how simple it was. Reminds me of windows 8 trying to revolutionize the interface of something simple & self-explanatory. Eventually becoming an epic fail.... m.c. 2023👎👎
