@@SJ-tx5go 🥴 “DJ” Quik came out when I was about 10, so going by his name, I thought he was just a “dee-jay” who put out an album. 😂 I’m from The Dirty South, so we didn’t pay much attention to the West Coast outside of Dre, Snoop, and Pac. We have our own legends, like OutKast and UGK. The day I wrote this post, a Quik song had popped on my feed. That caused me to start digging into his discography. It took me 30 years to find out this man is a MUSICIAN, not just a dee-jay or rapper. 🤦🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️ #shameonme 😂

Dont care what anyone says, Quik is one of the GOATs, not only of west coast hip hop but hip hop in general. Its crazy how much he's overlooked by the general public, the guy could rap, produce, and even play instruments, one of the most versatile rappers ever. This album is still one of my favorite of all time and this song is one of the reasons.

The only rapper i'm listing to for some time now. Dj Quik is the realest artist in the game. He's so prolific, talented and versatile. He can go to g funk, to jazz melodies like here to talk box to straight rap. U nevertheless get annoyed when u listen to a Dj Quik's track. I'm getting to know his huge work more. I'm starting to listen to the trauma album, the midnight life album which are different than the others. Of course, I am crazy about 2nd II None and the late Mausberg. Anyway if u don't know Dj Quik it's time to give him a chance !✌🏽️👍🏽😀😀🎼🎼🎼

It doesn’t just speak loads about Quik’s musical genius or prowess, but it reflects his positive, laid back persona and showcases his abilities not just as a rapper or producer, but as a brother with a real discerning ear and truly sophisticated (and eclectic!) choice of music! You can hear and feel the growth in the Craftsmanship. And I’m not talking about the genre tweaking. It’s the timing and placement of each instrument. from one producer to another, I am really impressed. Quik’s 3 shows the mastery of the craft, but I still like the instruments that were used in quick groves 2 a little better. Weeks three is the more complete and more well rounded of the three.. Only downside is, the song sounds like eight count loops and no solo rifting. I give it a strong 7/10 👍🏽💯
