Camoflauge is the true story of Jason Johnson (aka Camoflauge) a rapper from Savannah, GA. He is known for representing his city to the fullest, putting Savannah on the hip hop map. In May 2003, his life was tragically cut short when he was fatally shot outside of Pure Pain Recording Studio. He was 21 years of age.
Thirteen years later, his murder still unsolved, family, friends and fans break the silence by reflecting on how the city he loved turned against him. This documentary invites audiences to watch Savannah finally heal over the death of their hero.

I’m from Paterson New Jersey. My uncle died September 2001. We went to his funeral and all we heard while there on the radio and people playing was Fuck Friends. My older cousin Bubba was good friends with him. Camouflage came to the repass with an entourage of 10+ goons who were all very respectful and down to earth dudes. Those dudes were serious.. you can tell. I went back home blasting this and next thing you know Paterson NJ was in love with him. We made mixtapes and sold them around the city. I personally put this brother on, on a mixtape unbeknownst to him. Next thing you know, promoters were trying to book him for shows in Jersey. He asked my cousin where in Jersey he was from and said, “Nigga that’s where they tryna get me! At 3 different spots over the next 3-4 months!” They both just laughed about it and thought nothing of it until I told my cousin I put his song on the tape and Camouflage himself called me and thanked me. That following summer I went I down there and he showed me massive, massive love. Him and his people. When I heard he got shot I was crushed man… smh 🤦🏽‍♂️

I moved to Savannah, Ga about 4 years ago, and as soon as I started going out, I kept hearing "Cut Friends" all the time. Growing up my dad only played artist like Trick Daddy and such (he's from Ft. Lauderdale). So hearing this song, and seeing how the crowd reacted, I knew it was a song that was moving Sav. This song is played in every club, even in the damn rink. And it never gets old. Great Documentary! Camoflauge is a damn legend for putting Savannah on the damn MAP!!

I think that last song is mad! I can feel your pains... Tears falling like rain... I can’t eat... I can’t sleep... Why don’t you take out your dad’s (just the chorus part) voice from that video and use it as a chorus for a rap song titled ‘Crimson Rain’ Your dad’s voice introduces the song, your dad’s voice is the chorus too You just rap along. You can talk about his life and connect it together with yours and relate with the present day. How things haven’t changed much... The core message ought to be that we Blacks are the greatest enemies of ourselves... Not the Whites or nobody... We’re our own enemies! Period! Get some inspiration from Story of OJ by Jay-Z for the song too... I’m sure that song is gonna blow up... For the video you’ll have to make it sort of like a documentary of sorts Don’t also forget to use the imagery of Change painted by Obama’s... Change is a seed and it doesn’t have to happen in the lifetime of one individual. Martin Luther King started a revolution and its continued by us all. Legacy! So the song is kinda like a Documentary of sorts. Sorry this was lengthy. I followed you from AGT. Keep your head up lady and be strong. Peace

Always listened to camoflauge, when he died had me shook, went to savannah for the first time last new years and before i left i had to stop by the old studio and get some pictures, it was surreal standing where that man once stood, RIP my brother

This whole time I thought he was from New Orleans because of his accent. I remember this happening.. this affected a lot of people. He was a very talented person

That’s because Savannah and New Orleans come from the same line of Geechee and Gullah ancestry . Savannah and NO are definitely very similar in culture and accents
