Hi mate, I would love to be involved in camp America 2023 with a leading role in football. What experience did you need with leading? I am curious in what experience I need as I am willing to gain a coaching badge doing a course before going. I have lots of experience playing football, but would like to learn from someone’s experience to what you do while there, and what you are required to carry out! Would love to hear back, is there anyway of contacting you for more information? Will.

Hi, to lead a sports activity, it's really more to do with your ability around kids rather than your ability in sport! I lead all sorts of sports activities at camp and the best advice I could give is to plan activities beforehand! Make the activities fun and engaging, and also make sure to keep in mind that abilities will vary, so some children may need special treatment, or more simple games. Keep them excited to participate and celebrate their achievements with them.

@@huffypuff0 thanks for the response mate, can you just teach one sport so for me football, or do I need to lead other sports? Would also love to hear how you planned your activities, I’m hoping to go and get out of my comfort zone, but would love to be prepared and feel comfortable with my role. Did you lead or assist? Was it just you?

@@willjohnson5141 At the camp I went to, a few of us were selected as 'sports leads', so we led many different types of sports activities, I expect most camps operate like this! I planned some sports activities that sounded fun and engaging but in reality, they were far too difficult for some of the children! For example, even a 5v5 game of soccer is challenging for some, so instead, I planned activities like dribbiling the ball from one cone to the next and then shooting at goals.. stuff like that! When I lead sports, it was just me leading, and 2 other counsellors who assisted me. I had to instruct them.
