hello, thanks for the review. Do you think it will be good to use for frying large quantities of chicken at an event?

You can definitely set up a frying system on it. I fry fish in a cast iron pan on it all the time. But for a large event you might want to look at a dedicated propane deep fryer.

Do you have to use the legs or can you use it on a table top?

You can definitely sit it on a table top. Just watch how hot the table gets.
