I absolutely love this song, discovered it through Pitchfork’s list of the greatest songs of the 2010s and instantly fell in love with it. Unwaveringly feminist, socially conscious and evocative lyricism with a solid opening riff and instrumentation throughout and that voice is just exceptional ❤️🎶

All I can say is wow! Just discovered you on a small college radio station in redlands ca. I can feel the passion in the vocalists voice. What an amazingly raw and passionate voice and the jangly guitar sound along with consistently moving bass and the changes in the drumming. Brilliant!! Everything these days is so overproduced and sounds the same. Whoever produces this band is doing a great service to real music lovers by leaving us to enjoy such a raw organic sound. Great chemistry with these girls. Come to SoCal!!

Tell me you never wanna see me again And then keep showing up at my house Tell me you'll never be in love again Now you're walking around with someone else If I was hungry then you were starving And he was so sick but you were dying If I was hungry then you were starving Now tell the dead man that you're the one dying Treat them like queens until they disagree And never reflect and think "Why maybe the problem was me" Nah man just keep smoking weed Tell this one "Yeah they're all crazy, unlike you baby" Tell me that no one knows me like you do And tell me that my friends don't tell me the truth And maybe I'll come crawling back to you Like that was your plan right? You worked so hard but we were just lucky To ride those coat-tails into infinity And all my success has got nothing to do with me Yeah tell me again how there just Aren't that many girls in the music scene It's another whole male tour preaching equality It's another straight cis man who knows more about this than me It's another man telling us we're missing a frequency It's another man telling us we can't fill up the room It's another man telling us to book a smaller venue Nah, hey come on girls, we're only thinking about you! I'm male. I "get the feels", too. It's just excellent, exciting music. And I don't care (too much) about their gender. Nevertheless it's always nice to discover some new women who rock, as the music and the festival industry has neglected them quite a bit lately.

So much love for these three! Great to see such powerful and talented people speaking out about the lack of diversity and acceptance in the music scene. Can't thank you guys enough for inspiring so many girls like myself to follow their dreams and to feel worthy of our own success. Keep doing what you're doing because you're honestly making such a difference to many girl's life not just in the music scene, but in society as I whole!
@ARCtheCartoonMaster4 жыл бұрын
If you're only inspired to follow your dreams because of your gender, then maybe you should rethink your dreams.
@ffm5954 жыл бұрын
@@ARCtheCartoonMaster Absolutely, but what makes you think that's the case for most women? At the heart of it, I believe they're pursuing this career because it's their passion, however their success can serve as a further incentive for young girls who may have hesitations due to a lack of representation. That's the way I see it at least, but I do see where you're coming from
@ARCtheCartoonMaster4 жыл бұрын
@@ffm595 But here's the thing: where did the first female musicians get their inspiration from? It couldn't have been other female musicians, because those didn't exist yet. And you said it yourself - these ladies *probably* chose this career path because they're passionate about music. So why can't we just let girls choose what they want to do, instead of having to "encourage" them, and treat them like dumb idiots who cannot think for themselves? And what if a girl is inspired to become a musician because she likes certain *male* artists? I chose to become an animator, even though there aren't that many animation studios in Australia. I was inspired by Americans. And I was passionate about the art, so I felt it should be a career path I should take.
@ffm5954 жыл бұрын
@@ARCtheCartoonMaster I guess it's about equity. It would be great if we didn't have to worry about giving girls extra encouragement, however the music industry remains very male dominated and so it's great to have these female inspirations. Whilst not everyone always agrees with Camp Cope, I think for the most part they've had a really positive impact on inspiring musicians who feel underrepresented. This representation can play such a huge role in shaping someone's pathway, and so its one explanation for why it took a while for lots of women to "make it" in the industry. The early female musicians were likely inspired by male artists, however they faced far more barriers and limitations than their male counterparts. Bands like Camp Cope aren't trying to patronise and belittle girls, but rather say "you'll be faced with more obstacles along the way, but you can still make it". I can see we both have different views on this, but thanks for sharing your opinion and I hope you'll also try to see where I'm coming from :)

I'm furiously googling to find al of these amazing female rock bands. Where are they? I live in Manchester, and all it does is music. If they were there, I would see them. I'm an old-school Sleater-Kinney fan. Women who play rock are outliers. The few that do are usually puppets fronting the boys. So much for the #GenderPlayGap.

I think they're saying that a band full of queer ppl might feel the same way/ receive the same treatment. Also are they all cishet? idk. it also may be referring to how a straight cis man has never experienced the 'oh you're only popular because there aren't a lot of ________ bands'
@charlottesimss98536 жыл бұрын
Cis het guys don't have to deal with being invalidated for their gender or sexuality, they're expected to be that way and to get what they want and have more potential than other people cuz they don't let others succeed a lot.
