How are the quarantine barracks there in Humphreys ? Is it like normal barracks or more like basic training style for quarantine?

Thanks for the video. You mentioned you can get a Passport photo. Can a soldier apply for a passport while on post or do they have to go to the American Consulate?

I am blown away how camp humphreys looks today. The PX was no where that big when I went to it to in 1997 and 2000. Korea has changed big time. My first duty station was Camp Carroll in Waegwon in 1989 and its completely built up now. Korea is definitely a way better duty assignment as far as the buildings. PX, Gyms, and things to do. in my tours in korea. Yongsan was the only place that had a decent size PX.
@erinmcshane48592 жыл бұрын
The facilities on Humphreys are absolutely built up and most are new and modern. Still in construction as well.

Can GS employees and their families shop at the px and use other services on post?
@Kklkoko3 жыл бұрын
So it looks like you finished the 7 year mandatory service after graduating westpoint. Are you still living at Korea as a civilian? Is it a lot easier to get a GS job with DD214 these days?
@erinmcshane48593 жыл бұрын
I switched to Reserves then volunteered for a training mission in Korea. A GS job doesn’t excite me, so I haven’t fully explored that path.

You video was great. Can we get adaptors at the px? Can you say more about having your own car?
@erinmcshane48594 жыл бұрын
What type of adaptors? I may not be able to answer your question either way, however. You could try calling/emailing the exchange itself. I chose not to get a car and just carpooled with a buddy whenever I wasn't using my motorcycle. A car can be picked up for $1100-3000 easy. You can find get a car from someone PCSing out of your unit while you PCS in, by going to a place like Gorilla Motors, or by checking the Camp Humphreys/Pyeongtaek buy/sell pages

Thanks Erin. I was talking about electricity: voltage adapters and plugs.

Ah, ok. I am confident you can, but I am no longer in Korea to verify.

How big is AAFES PX Mall in Camp Humphreys? Is it bigger than AAFES BX Mall in Kadena Air Base (344,000 sq ft)?
@erinmcshane48594 жыл бұрын
Apparently not: Humphreys PX is 300,000 square feet.

My husband E-4/E-5 and I are pcsing in April next year. And we will have a 2-5month old. What housing works best for on-post?
@erinmcshane48594 жыл бұрын
You found it! The old and new towers are the only on-post housing options for families ranks O-5 and below.

I couldn't really tell. Are there any swords there? If not do you know where I could buy one?
@erinmcshane48593 жыл бұрын
There are usually small swords. Not quite sure where you would find large ones. There’s a market near the Gyeongbok Palace in Seoul that would have them, but I’m sure you can find a closer solution than that.

Wow! That's a huge PX. I'm excited to see the GNC! I briefly saw the women's salon. Is it any good? Or are there better options someplace else? What do people use the scooters for? Transportation on post? Off post? Also, you said your brother came to visit you. Where can family stay when they visit? I'm assuming they can't stay in the SM's SLQs? Is there an on-post lodge?
@erinmcshane48594 жыл бұрын
I have only had my hair cut twice here. On post was pretty inexpensive, did the job, nothing I was excited about. Off Post I went to Color Pop. I believe it was $30 and I was quite happy with the layering/trim/communication/wash-dry. My whole family came during Christmas. They stayed at my friend's apartment Off-Post. Saved $$$$. There is one lodge on post, I am not sure of the price. Because only one family member as military ID, I kept them off post so they would be able to shop/use facilities without military ID. There are TONS of Scooters and bikes on post because most Soldiers here are not authorized cars. I'm not sure what the laws are for Off-Post scootering, I haven't seen the PX scooters off post.
