To be honest, responses like this kind of make me mad. She didn't NEED to apologize to her fans and family. That she actually went and got help was more than enough. That kind of negative outlook on mental illness, that it's something that people should apologize for, is the reason that so many people DON'T seek help at all and end up committing suicide. The public pressure to be "okay" and not show that they are hurting, being scorned and shamed if they do admit to their pain, is the reason that others commit suicide while those who knew them never suspected that anything was wrong, because they never showed it and tried to brave that pain alone. It is exactly what happened with Robin Williams. If you try to bear your pain alone, it will eventually crush you. If anything, people should praise Demi for having the courage to reach out and let people know that she was struggling.
