Lehman's also sells canned meat, and it's very good. They sell, Beef, Chicken, Pork, and Turkey. $10.95 but do have sales on it too. They really are good, and have a 5 year shelf life too. Your so right about the fat. People need to understand about fats, it's one of the reasons so many are having health issues, it's vital to good health. Besides, I could eat a pound of butter with some homemade bread any day! LOL especially if I made some nice chili with that canned beef for dunking that bread. MMMMM

I just looked for this Meat online, the company is only offering Soups in cans, no meat. Too bad, I was looking forward to trying this out. Another great informative video Mr Looms. Thanks!

Now I have to look for that. Never heard of it or seen it out in the Pacific NW.

I buy ground beef when on sale. Then pressure can up skillet browned ground beef. I also make meatloaf mixture and pressure can that as well. That makes a fast hearty meal for a bachelor. Same goes for breast of chicken can buy that at 1.99 lb skinless boneless that makes for a fast meal with instant spuds or just a chicken sandwich. You have a ton of deer, harvest some, mix some beef fat in with the grind and then you have super cheap meat with some fat in it, can it up till the cows come home. Good deal on that. Have a good one.

Wally carries the canned meat here, including the ground beef, and I think most of it runs less than $7. The regular beef runs a little over $7. Daughters turned their noses up at it at first, but they are ready now to use all my canned beef and canned pork. Have a few cans of ground beef, but have not tried them yet.

raw hamburger here is over 4 a pound. so 8-9 dollars for over a pound and three fourths precooked shelf stable meat. thats a great price! heck even 11 is not bad. you loose about half your weight in cooking so thats starts out at about over three pound. if i had to buy that it would be well over 12 for raw meat i have to cook and store.

We have a few different kinds of canned meats but mostly my home pressure canned. I watch for the sales and buy at least 10 lbs. The good sales don't come around as often as they used to though.

Picked up 6 cans today, to add to my preps. $8.99 for almost 2- pounds of cooked meat (and already canned), is a good deal. Will most likely pick up another 6-cans next time I'm at Fleet Farm. As long as Mr. Looms says it taste good....that's good enough for me.

Gotta try it yourself. I wouldn’t drink some of the beers he likes. It does sound interesting though. I was talking to a friend of mine who grew up in the woods in the Ozarks and he told me about canning meats, that you basically prepare it for how you want to use it, so make the meat balls, or season the chicken, etc then just heat and add it to your meal recipe. Electric prices brought the topic up.

if you fry up burger then drain the grease off and then wash it slightly with water before draining it again. You can dehydrate the meat and store it long term that way. Fat doesnt preserve well without being refridgerated frozen sealed in a jar or can. Jars dont like being frozen.

Will have to give it a try. I like canned venison too, but grabbing a jar and toting it along on some adventures is a hazard.

We can [bottle pressure cook] ground beef for camping trips. Simple and works very well. I will stay with Spam for store bought canned meat.

Properly stored that will last way longer than 5 years. From the information I have found you may have lower nutrient values. So long as the can isn't damaged, bulging or leaking, it should be OK. You really only need common sense for this one, Look at it, Smell it, Taste a small bit. If you make it past all that, it's chow time. I'm about to try my hand at canning, I'm building a fish farm with a hydroponic garden; Inside a building with a heated floor so I can grow fish and a garden year round. All running off of a solar power system. I will also be adding rabbits shortly after it's up and running. Rabbit is very high in protein, I figure between the fish, rabbits and a garden; I shouldn't have to go to the grocery store any more.
