Dr. Campbell I can’t begin to tell you how much I love your lectures. I am 67 years old and stumbled across one of your lectures In February 2022, and I have become seriously addicted to them. I watch them every morning while having breakfast, and most evening before bed. You make it so easy to understand and follow along. I have never had an instructor that is as good as you are. Please Keep up this amazing calling. I love it. I can see that a lot of medical students are watching these lectures. I never took chemistry, biology or sciences after 2nd year of high school, so a lot of this was over my head. However, it has encouraged me to constantly google and read more. One lecture creates about an extra half to an hour longer reading :) and I force myself to continue on with my day. I have watched so so many of them. Thank you

Do you use a teleprompter for these lectures or??? Are you able to recite all of that from your memory. If so I definitely need to attend some effective study seminars or classes. Either way, great job , you communicate with clarity and make learning interesting.

Great job! So what determines the location of an infection?
@Campbellteaching
@Campbellteaching 8 жыл бұрын
+zeezeebo Largely, its how the infection gets into the body, if its inhaled, the infection might be in the lungs, ingested bacteria may cause GI infection, wound infection will be at the site of the wound, but of course might spread or become systemic.

Is it possible to have a normal O2 saturation with a low hemoglobin levels?
@TimCampbell-cj4op
@TimCampbell-cj4op 8 жыл бұрын
+rea arines Yes, this is possible. The oxygen saturation is the proportion of the haemaglobin present that is saturated, this tells us nothing about the total amount of haemoglobin present. The amount of oxygen transported is determined by the levels of Hb present AND how saturated that Hb is. So an anemic person might have 99% saturations, but their tissues can still be hypoxic.

I think when you label WBCs at 45% and RBCs at 55%, that is a mistake.

No he clearly said that you find 7000 WBC in one cubic mm of blood and 5million RBC in 1 cubic mm. So you can do the math.

but dr John what is the relationship between hypoxia and red blood cells?

Sir my text book does not consider platlets under leukocytes ,instead as a seperate branch under formed elements . Are both correct? Is there also eosinopenia. also does basophills also fight specific infections like eosinophils and neurtophills.
@Campbellteaching
@Campbellteaching 8 жыл бұрын
+mohammed anas Khan Yes, I think both are correct, thrombocytes derive from parent cells called megakaryocytes, which I would certainly classify as white cells. They are in fact cellular fragments, as the parent cell breaks up to form numerous, much smaller thrombocytes. Any blood cell which is not red is usual classified as 'white'.

is any oxygen dissolved in blood plasma or is it all in the red blood cells? thanks...
@Campbellteaching
@Campbellteaching 9 жыл бұрын
Hi Pai, You certainly seem to be watching quite a few videos. Thanks for the feedback, its always good to know they are being helpful. Are you planning on going into a medical field? Yes, some oxygen is carried in solution in the blood plasma, in the order of about 1% of the total volume carried. The rest is carried in the red cells.
@geojor

no, not going into a medical field, but love to watch and learn about the human body, and enjoy your great medical videos, always good to keep learning something new every day...

So can the white cell go through the brain easily due to their sizes???
