Great video, great camp , great friends. Very nice footage of the shots. I've hunted bear In Ontonagon before many times then went deer hunting twice, never got a deer . I live in metro Detroit and have hunted sence I was a kid . My main deer hunting spot is state land in the thumb. Our group all shot deer this year . Thanks again for bringing us along.

You should look at the IWOM suit, they are located in PA , I sit all day in -20 f and stay warm. I actually bring slippers in my pack and take my boots off ! Best money spent

When the guy talked about laying down with a bi-pod and taking a nap it reminded me of one of my Dad's hunting stories. One snowy afternoon somewhere near Ironwood in the late 1930's he picked a spot where a low gully met a long low piece of ground and got above them on a point of land under some kind of cedar. He cut a few branches down so he could see and settled in with his back to the tree trunk. He said the snow was virgin when he walked out. He ended up falling asleep and woke up about 30 minutes from dark. He said the gullies in all three directions were chewed up with deer tracks! I fell asleep in my climber once and was woken up when a squirrel jumped on my head thinking I was just a part of the tree!

I hunt from the ground and tend to rest my rifle on my knee. Dozed off one time and woke up with a doe and fawn with 30 yards and mama nearly lined up with the crosshairs lol.

I am curious as to why you don't gut the deer before dragging them? It would be less weight to pull.

We've done it both ways. My preference aa you can see is to tag it and drag it, then gut somewhere else. I've killed deer near gut piles but it'd be logical to think that predators will be attracted to the gut piles as well in a stand location that would be counter productive. The extra 30 lbs of dragging makes for better exercise.💪 I still gut my deer from time to time near a stand but usually it's because I know we're done hunting it for the season so I don't care about risking a negative impact on one of my hunting stands. Amen on the Remington core-lock I shoot a Remington model 600 in 243 Cal. 100gr. core lock. I called it my neck gun, never lost a deer

Thanks for watching Jeff ! We viewed the logging as a natural food plot and good cover too. 👌 The hunter (Brian) had a deer license requiring him to shoot only a buck with a minimum of 3 points on one side. That buck (though was several years old) only had 2 points on a side.

Congrats on the good season. just a quick question why don't u guys gut them where they lay instead of dragging all that extra weight. I am from southern wis an been hunting for 32 years an our group has always gutted them where we find em. Never bothered the other deer they walk right past it.

We don't always do that, but sometimes we do and it's to go in and get out of the stand area more swiftly. We've shot deer basically sniffing a gut pile so not worried about that. We don't mind the extra work since it's not really that hard anyways. Etc.. Thanks for watching and good luck in the woods !

We did but unfortunately did not see many deer nor got any. We are up the whole firearm season. We are in Iron county dmu 036. I was just curious if it was western or eastern half was all. Wasn't looking to move in by any means as we are well established where we are at. Congrats on a successful season

What a great video! Just took a minor eight point here in Camak Georgia on a cold day 20’ at time of harvest. It was so magical because deer hunting should be in cold weather IMO! God is great and this year I took out the northern hunting gear and scored while locals were inside. Mosquitos were cheated 2022. December and 17 degrees feels right! Just no snow….

It's not really any slower in my experience with dragging a doe. Especially without the head flopping while dragging by front. I'm surprised you haven't seen this done before. Thanks for watching and commenting !👍🏻

I used to hunt that side back in the 80s. Cedarville to Pickford to Raber Bay. In the 90s I hunted Escanaba area then the Ottawa NF until 2017 when I bought a camp in Alger County. Nothing beats the UP!
