When I use peel n stick tiles I put a layer of tile adhesive first as if I were putting down dry tile..let it set up for a bit..until tacky..then put the self adhesive tiles down..works fine..self ads are good if the undelay might flex...dry / asphaltic tile crack if the underlying tends to flex..:) Your Patten looks nice..

Hia, I’m thinking of putting a heater into my van ! And have the heat vent in the same place as yours ! I was just wondering what’s it like when the bed is in the down position? Does the heat circulate around the van ok when the bed is in the down position as it’s blowing under the bed ? Many thanks Ned

Eyup, I am new here as I’m planning on buying/building a stealth camper within the next year or two. As it’s 5:45 am (in December) and even here in my bedroom at home I’m nesh and freezing. I was watching videos and just started wondering if I will be able to use my van all year round, which I’m hoping to be able to but I haven’t given it much thought. So I googled camper underfloor heating I strangely was shown your van as being the top listing! I don’t want gas heating but the rest of your van looks tidy (and your dog is cute) I will be taking my dog away with me at weekends as she is my assistance dog. I am disabled and have fibromyalgia and sleep a lot and so my husband and I never get any decent trips and haven’t had a holiday in 25 years + so this planned van will initially be used to go all the places that previously seemed too far for a days drive & back. I want to go to Devon on holiday and The Lake District, The Isle of Man and weekends everywhere else. I will be using this channel for ideas as this lady seems to be on my wavelength plus I can imagine my husband watching this channel too and not thinking he knows it all, already. I like the idea of your floor tiles, and the positioning of that vent will create a lovely warm spot for the dog (which is where my idea for underfloor heating came from) but I do have a diesel night heater my husband stripped from a transit which he bought for its engine and whatever else... a super strong bolt down locker too. I shall be binge watching at every given opportunity now. Thanks for what looks like a fantastic channel! WISHING U ALL THE BEST FOR 2020! Happy New Year 🥳

I see that you have caught the right hand corner of your doorstep. Mine had similar damage. I pulled it out and straightened it with a warm air gun then reinforced it behind, with a piece of perforated steel sheet, glued on with hot melt glue. I scuffed up the plastic and warmed the steel patch with the heat gun first, so it didn't chill the glue. It's still holding!

Hopefully we can replace it eventually, but my fiance's screwed it down for now as a temporary fix.

Should have a diesel heater eveytime, less hassle of bottle space and can get diesel anywhere

I haven't started my build yet but I'm trying to get everything planned out in advance, I can't decide between a diesel heater or a lpg heater. It looks like your doing a great job with your build 👍
@TheCarpentersDaughterUK
@TheCarpentersDaughterUK 7 жыл бұрын
We sat on it for ages because we didn't know where the best place for it was, but we found this one cheaper. BUT by the time you pay for it to be fitted (unless you're doing it yourself), they both would've worked out the same cost wise. I love the idea of one tapping straight in to the fuel system though but the price put us off x

Hi, great job there. May I ask what ply did you use for your cabinets and where did you source it from? Did you obtain pre cut pieces for the doors for example any roughly how much was it?
@TheCarpentersDaughterUK
@TheCarpentersDaughterUK 6 жыл бұрын
+tru obalanga thanks 😊 I was worried I'd make it sloppy, so bought all the interiors as a package from Majestic Campers. All the furniture cost about 2.2k as a package, all pre-cut and it's light ply. I'm sure you could find them cheaper though.

Hi - just a quick question ... how did you line the inside of your roof? My son has been insulating and putting reflective / vapour barrier in, got it all taped up and part lined ... but today attempting to fit the rear section inadvertently drilled through the roof (just behind the high level brake light ... any suggestions? Cheers and keep up the good stuff ;-)
@TheCarpentersDaughterUK
@TheCarpentersDaughterUK 7 жыл бұрын
Oh no! Well we put the reflective stuff in. We were going to add wool lining but it was far too bulky and instead used 2x Caravan textured flexi ply and screwed in to the metal parts that stuck out to prevent screwing through the roof. The ply sheet overlaps as it wasn't quite big enough.

Nice job again Vicky and thanx you have given me some ideas for our camper van an older Toyota regarding the sticky tiles you used on the floor of your van thanx for the b and m and the range info👍 also we need to get a heater so did you find it hard to install yours? did you buy new or secondhand for the Propex heater? regards and best wishes Mike
@TheCarpentersDaughterUK
@TheCarpentersDaughterUK 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks +mickymost. The hardest part of the heater is planning where to install it and I'd rang several placed for it to be fitted and they shyed away from it. Then we got a quote for £384 which we couldn't believe, so did it ourselves... plus they gave us the idea of what they'd put it anyway and lead through the wardrobe. Good luck with the sticky tiles - I loved how easy they were and the adhesive was stronger than I expected! Ps do you have a hiyace or proace?
@mariataif
@mariataif 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Vicky Thanx for your reply we have a Hiace toyota camper van long wheel base 1988 vintage being an import in Uk in 1999 but we only bought it in April this year... tweeking it to our needs at the moment and no heater and it had only an old fashioned 12v fridge which I removed so we may fit a newer fridge as well,ps do you find your waeco fridge(is that correct)is good and not using much battery? best wishes Mike
@TheCarpentersDaughterUK
@TheCarpentersDaughterUK 7 жыл бұрын
We've been impressed with this fridge +mickymost although we thought it was also suitable to run on gas and wasn't corrected about it not being while buying. But it probably turned out for the best. I think it roughly lasts about 3 days and then need to start recharging our battery. We were looking at both Toyotas as we'd hired the newer model from enterprise a couple of years ago but buying one wasn't cheap. But it was a great van which gave us the idea of converting a Vito and loved the two sliding doors!

good to know you’re going on well with your build. just a question please, would the heater noise be a problem for stealth camping?
@TheCarpentersDaughterUK

There is some noise, but from the outside it's only extremely slight. Also, you can smell a bit of burnt fuel from the outside if that would concern you?

Pleased to see another camper video... our van is being delivered next week!!! Can't wait to start 😆. Just a few questions... aren't you running the hobs and heater of the the same bottle? We are getting an lpg motor home tank that's underslung... it's great because you can fill up at petrol stations that have lpg and at around 170 quid I think it's worth it. www.autogasshop.co.uk/motorhome-lpg-vapour-caratank-tank-16ltr-1039-p.asp Also how wide is your bed and do you find that it's a bit of a squeeze? Trying to get all the preportions sorted lol. One more thing... I did my old kitchen in those tiles and I found that over time they wondered as the adhesive never dried it just stays tacky. Maybe it was because it was a high traffic area and yours will be OK but something to keep an eye in perhaps. Look forward to the next video... keep up the good work 😆
@TheCarpentersDaughterUK
@TheCarpentersDaughterUK 7 жыл бұрын
I think we'll eventually use it off the same gas bottle but it's cool to know we have a spare one until we gauge how much we're using with the heater. If we find we're not using much, we'll probably get a splitter to run off the same one. And I was worried about it being a tight squeeze (it's a 3/4 but can't remember the dimensions off hand). I saw one in a camper place in situ and it was surprisingly roomy enough and comfy. But when I'd see them on ebay initially, none of them looked like I could have a good night's sleep.
