It was just a good night. The kind of night that will be remembered for a lifetime. Not because anything crazy happened, no; quite the contrary actually. The beauty of this night was the simplicity of it all. The fact that nothing particularly crazy happened, and that these three amigos wouldn’t have had it any other way. Another busy week had passed but the night had just begun. After a 2-hour drive, and another 1-hour hike, our friends had set up camp between a welcoming tree and a sturdy rock, under a starry night sky. The plateaus were in the distant background, but massive nonetheless. As the campfire roared to life, our friends found solace in the night, and more importantly, in the warmth of each other’s company. Riley was a raccoon, and Farrah was a fox. Barry, of course, was a bear and together they were there. The night would have been rather dark if not for the stars and the crescent moon shining bright in the sky above. The air was crisp, and a cool breeze swept its way through the canyon where our friends had taken respite. Barry perched himself supine on the rock just a little further from the fire, as his grizzly fur, flannel, and overalls kept him warm enough. The other two friends huddled just a little closer to stay warm. The beauty is often in the eyes of the beholder they say and on this particular night, there was much beauty to behold. Barry, a bear of little words, was lost in his thoughts as he looked up at the stars that shined back down on him. He thought of everything he still wanted to do in this world, for himself, and for his mother who had raised him by herself. Riley was mesmerized by the fire that crackled with every ember vanishing into the wind. He watched in simple appreciation as his fluffy white marshmallow started browning in the warmth of the fire. And Farrah, beautiful Farrah, simply loved the contrast of the warm fire in her face and the cool breeze gently supporting her back. She held her guitar close, as she closed her eyes and imagined the sweet melodies she would create later in the night. Me, on the other hand, I couldn’t help but notice the fireflies that filled the air. Their intermittent expression brought the scene to life, as if the stars made the journey down to earth to share this moment with our friendly companions.

here's a little story! So i was at camp with my friends and we were sitting by the gaga ball pit. two of our counselors brought ukuleles to camp so they started playing songs and we started singing along. soon enough, all 20-40 people in the area had gathered on the ground, either singing along or listening. we all watched the sun go down, and looked at the stars all together, still singing and playing and listening. it was one of the best nights of our life. the head of the camp came out, and we thought he was going to shush us, but he just took a short video then went on his way. best night of my life

I remember when I went on a camping trip in grade six with the rest of my grade. It was quite fun, even though nothing crazy happened. I remember waking up in the middle of the night, in a cabin i shared with 6 other people. I looked outside, and it was a bright night, and the stars were showing even though it was raining. Going through the hardest breakup I've yet to encounter. I'll never know why she suddenly ignored me but this mix makes everything seem a bit better.
