Yellowstone is a super volcano ready to pop.
@ellenbryn2 ай бұрын
@bngr_bngr have you ever seen a single scientist who actually studies Yellowstone say anything like that, as opposed to all of the ones who are telling us it is nowhere near refilling? They always seem to be reassuring us that the signs are it is not behaving any differently than it has for thousands of years. The ones who are studying Campi Flegrei keep reporting NEW signs of INCREASING activity, like ground uplift, far in excess of anything happening at Yellowstone, and the record shows it has erupted more often, more recently. They are worried in a way the experts who live and work at Yellowstone are not.

@@bngr_bngr no it isn't. Don't be a derp that spreads misinformation.

Considering Yellowstone is nowhere near to blowing, you'd have to be a fool to worry about it. No living human will be still living when it finally does blow. Probably not even great-grandchildren's lifetimes, either. it's a long, long way from doing much.

Campi Flegrei is a volcanic complex, not a super volcano. It’s big sure, but there’s no evidence it has ever erupted with anything in the VEI-8 range
@TheEudaemonicPlague2 ай бұрын
WRONG! If you'd bothered looking it up, you'd know it is a volcano. Obviously, if you'd ever been there (I have) you'd know better...if you'd even studied maps of the area, you'd know better. Kids these days get no education to speak of....but you are correct about one thing--it isn't a super volcano, just a large one. "The Phlegraean Fields (Italian: Campi Flegrei) is a large caldera volcano west of Naples, Italy. It is part of the Campanian volcanic arc, which includes Mount Vesuvius" "The area of the caldera consists of 24 craters and volcanic edifices. Most of them lie under the Gulf of Naples."

Super volcanoes and vei of 8...oy! VEI is a measure of explosiveness, hence the name, but it is based on more measures than just power. For example, it also includes amount of material and height of column. It encompasses quite a lot. At one point it was thought to be a great measure of explosiveness. The Smithsonian Institute has a great explanation, but the scientific literature has much more and even updates. Highly recomnend, great and interesting reads.
@Josh-k4v6 күн бұрын
Ignore the person saying you're wrong. You're 100% correct. Most actual volcanologists classify the requirement to be a 'super volcano' as having evidence of a VEI 8 eruption. Campi Flegrei has erupted at VEI 7, but never an 8 that we have evidence for.

That's a very nice underground volcano you got there. Be a shame if something was to, you know, happen to it. 😆 Also, no surprise that half the commenters are experts who know more than anyone in the video. Thanks, geniuses. The world is a better place now. 😮💨

And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. And he opened the bottomless pit; and there came smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace, and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. And there came up out of the smoke, (hellborn) locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. And in those days shall men seek death and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. (cognitive zombies). Those that do not bear the mark of heaven will curse God, and those that dwell in heaven because of their affliction. They will be tormented by these hellborn creatures but will not be allowed to die. Some people will receive 100s of stings, enough to kill an elephant, but not die. Some people will throw themselves off buildings, and break their bones up, only to find out they are still alive. They will lay there and say I will starve myself to die, they will starve, but they will not die. This supernatural judgement awaits those who rejected the light, rejected the truth, and walked in darkness. Woe to the wicked and cursed, who will walk the cursed earth, and fall prey to dark ones of the pit.

How is Nova getting this wrong, Campi is not and has never been a super volcano. Its largest eruption was barely a vei 7 let alone anything close to an 8. Its magma chamber doesn't support that size of an eruption either.

Any caldera volcano is capable of producing what might be termed a super eruption.

Yup, that's right. There's someone who recognized that it isn't a super volcano, but thinks it isn't a volcano, but a complex of volcanoes. It's amazing how much false info is being passed around here. At least you've gotten it right.

Sounds like you expected the entire region to be a wasteland. Really, really dumb thing to expect. If you wanted to see volcanic stuff, you should have gone to where you can see it. You were awfully close to it, too. If you'd gone a bit north, you'd have been in the middle of it, if you'd gone east, you'd have seen plenty around Vesuvius. Instead, you stayed by the water...where there's very little to see of volcanoes. D'oh!
