Thanks for stirring up some memories! Long ago in BoyScouts, went camping as a cold front blew thru, woke up several times in the night as the winds blew hard. Also, your caveman steak reminded me of the primative cooking skills we had to show off that weekend, by wrapping a potato in clay to bake in the fire, then cubed steak and veggies on wooden skewers that we made from nearby saplings. Keep going out there and making your own memories, and many thanks for helping me relive mine.

The human body adapts to its climate, what is cold to u feels the same as what is cold to a canadian or alaskan, they are more used to colder climate so u feel just as cold in ur climate as they do in theirs. Great video, thanks james

Great video! Thanks for taking us along on the camping trip. If I may offer some constructive criticism regarding the logos: I believe the skull appears more as a picture than a logo. I understand its significance to you, which is essential. However, as a logo, it might not be readily recognizable to new viewers who might not be familiar with all the Jurassic theme elements and that you found this skull etc. One suggestion could be to simplify it-maintain the same shape but consider editing it to enhance its simplicity. I'm torn between the two. The classic one is more of a logo but the new one represents you personally more. I would then keep the skull one but modify it to remove some of the details to make it more of a logo. I hope that helps with some decision making . Cheers, Dave.

Should not the pad your tent sits on not go past the bottom go the tent so if it does rain non finds its way under your tent? Also one thing about the desert is there is always tinder about. I assume you bring wood with you when camping in our desert

G'day James. Thank you for another great video. Congrats on passing the 100K subs milestone, you have put in a lot of hard work to get there. Also great to see you rocking a quality Australian hat. Just for information, we don't generally use the term cowboy in Australia. A young inexperienced station hand is a Jackaroo (or Jillaroo for female) and an experienced, skilled stockman is a ringer. For my 2 cents, I prefer the old logo. The tail almost looks like it's on fire. I have tried to warm up to the new one, but I just don't like it. To me, it doesn't look like anything you can visually associate with a fox. I think it looks kind of like a dinosaur skull. Just my opinion, and you did ask. ;)

Good show, as usual. Neighbors relatives camped on the most southern part of their property right next to my line. I heard them, told them to play Hendrix or Pink Floyd extra loud. They thought I was coming to complain. They laughed and relaxed. Wind blows from south to north. No problem. Yes, the desert is cold at night....be prepared.

Talking about the logos, I like the original fox slightly better, but I have to say using both is cool because it doesn't feel like one is over used. I think the beanie with the skull looks cool but I definitely would like the enameled mug better with the knife fox logo better.

very true! but the ground in this area is very rocky, so I doubt a Dakota fire hole would be possible here. but it can be done on softer ground and definitely can help during strong winds.

Another fun video for all us "not there right now" types... I have always worn those kind of work boots all my life. Started wearing them as a kid in the early 60's. As for Logos I like the Fox. Looks like you have figured out good camping comes from enough ground pads under you and enough bedding on top of you... And glad to see the realism of multiple smaller packs. The guys with big mega packs are gonna have back problems when they get old. One thing I have done is made a camp kitchen box, but did a downsized one, like for jeep camping. it has everything necessay in one grab, from an 8 inch cast iron skillet, to pots and pans etc. mixing bowls, all in stainless. and coffee making stuff. also all my camping kitchen knives and other utinsils. The box is only 16x14x24 inches... One thing you might consider James is popularizing the Camping and Bug out Wheel Barrow... I bought a nice one just for that. and you having a pickup it would make sense for getting away from the parking spot. In the desert would want a non pneumatic tire... what you will find, is a wheel barrow actually does carry the amount of stuff needed for camping. And they go almost anywhere in open country. Also could carry enough water to get more days away from humans. Might make good cinema? scenes of James and his wheel barrow motoring thru the brush? And teaching a practical reality... This whole trip of no wheels camping is kind of absurd if you ask me, humans have had wheels since the Scythians... Why lug the schitt? thats like Neanderthal. And we have used horses and dogs for thousands of years too. I'm collecting parts to do a pony travois with wheel barrow wheels, 4 normal sized and four smaller, with poles hinged to the platform rails, and all the tires to go over things like an Army tank. made the stub axles system, got the larger wheels, and after Christmas will be shopping for the smaller. Thinking a 4x6 ft bed on it. Should carry everything needed for long term stay outs. And unloaded I could sleep on it. anyway, like your videos!

@@JunkyardFox its something I have thought on for years James, others have too, bug out carts, for those who realize EMP effects on cars on freeways etc. And I grew up in the sticks, and when you got a deer, you went home for the wheel barrow. Wheel barrow tires are pretty good, go over things, are minimalistic on weight. And single tire configuration goes thru narrow spots etc. Also Wheel Barrows come in different sizes. Like I got a smaller lighter one because I'm not an Ogre... Also I have designed tandem wheeled in line versions based on the traditional Chinese wheel barrow. it used a tall wheel and had shelves on each side, and was loaded like a pack saddle. Also you can buy better quality bearings at bearing supply places to fit wheel barrow hub and axle sizes. they are cheap. And with the non pneumatic tires now, are desert proof. a standard wheel barrow could carry camping gear and 2.5 or 5 gallons of water. Worth considering, also one could weld up a carrier to go into a hitch socket... Packs are for portaging... anything else, and humans used transportartion devices... Another strange one, is I have a set of small adzes in my survival tools.. Its for post Apocalyptic survivial, the abilty to camp by a river or waterway, and turn a log into chips for cooking, and a dugout boat at the same time. Here in Central America dugouts are still made and used even at sea. I stayed with a locsl family that had one probably 6 feet wide and maybe 30 ft long, used to transoort their pigs and cattle to market. lived in a roadless area on a river near a bay, and nearest town was maybe 20 miles away by boat. That area is national park now. Strange ideas..... to get transportation devices going instead of being a backpacker purist.
