A little safety suggestion: Set out TWO chairs so it's not so obvious that you are a woman camping solo. Some chairs (even under $30 on AMZ) fold up tiny, so they don't take much space. One chair should be a color that a man would choose (dark blue, dark green, burgundy, beige,or black)! Happy camping ....and great taking care of yourself!

@@SheCanDoAllThings the "feline pine" wood pellets kitty litter is great, breaks down into sawdust and absorb the smell and stays pine sent. Doesn't take much and I've found it's less expensive than the absorbing pads. Just put them in a gallon baggie for your weekend and the $11 (20#) bag will last quite a while. Safe travels.

Hey kid next time you put your awing up or down roll it out and leave the legs (poles) down short while you do your hooks and stuff on the side so you can reach them, then raise the poles all the way up. If you need to extend them first just put the bottoms of the poles back toward your van so height will be closer to your height then pull them out to raise it 😊

I love the awning shade is so important. Get a net that will cover the awning and van to the back door. Also make sure you light your citronella candle when you set up and get some peppermint oil and sprayed around your van. It will keep rodents away, they hate the smell.

Just a tip! There's another youtuber that has a similar toilet setup. She lines the bottom of the bucket with a puppy pad in case there's a hole in the bag or it falls over the side. She takes another one and puts it between the lid and the seat at the top to catch any condensation that forms.

I started out in a really old truck, not by choice. It was so hard and I was crushed by shame and spent 1.5 years trying to be invisible, and uncontrollable crying. That was 2018-2020. Then a guy on his phone hit me head on and totalled my truck. Covid unemployment money let me purchase a van, which is actually a rolling dumpster that barely runs, but it's a place! I'm not on the street or in a tent. I'm rooting hard for Rochelle, you, and the vehicle dwelling community! 💪🏽

So glad you're able to get away. Remember, you don't have to use water and soap to wash dishes like in sticks and bricks. Save your water. Get a pkg of baby wipes and bottle of 90% alcohol. Pour just a little in the wipes... Instant wash for dishes, even for hands. You're doing a great job. 🌹

Hey! Any Home Depot or Lowe’s has solid buckets and a seat that goes in it. I think it would be much more solid and reliable. It uses regular small kitchen bags. Pick up a second chair so it looks like two people are there. Also if you can afford it, a pop up shell with screening will help with bugs. If you had to leave in an emergency, your awning would be an issue. Good luck with your adventure.

I love the awning shade is so important. Get a net that will cover the awning and van to the back door. Also make sure you light your citronella candle when you set up and get some peppermint oil and sprayed around your van. It will keep rodents away, they hate the smell. Oh, and very important get some pellets to put in that toilet so that it will be no odor in your van.

Coop vid...actually you want the awning tilted or one side lower. In case it rains the water will not pool but run off one side. Also use guy lines to anchor it to pegs into the ground to protect it from being damaged.

It's good to see you again. It's great you have an awning now. Please use the guy ropes and peg the awning down because one gust of wind can break it and damage your car. I have your portable toilet, and I use it as a rubbish bin when I don't need to go to the loo. For your cooking in your frypan, you can get a fat splattering cover from most supermarkets, so your grease doesn't go everywhere. Enjoy relaxing as much as possible when it's hot. You can get a misting system that you attach to your awning that runs on one of those small 20,000 amp powerbank or even from your solar fan. You can also get bug netting that fits your awning, so while you're in under it, you can be bug free, and it helps keep the bugs out of your van at the same time.

I bought a similar toilet to yours to save space when travelling. I put kitty litter in the bottom of the plastic toilet bag which works fine but kitty litter is expensive where I live so I purchased commode pads from Temu. They are like blotting paper but turn to gel when you pee on them. They are cheap and pee doesn’t slosh 😂 around when emptying the pee bag.

I have an awning like yours. It helps if you don't extend the legs until after you Velcro the sides. Keep a folding step stool with you to give you a little height. Also metal tiki light stakes do a great job of holding the poles in place. God Bless, stay safe, and have fun!

A small fan always good to keep you from overheating and you can get a gallon jugs of distilled water for 89 cents at Walmart. Keep at least three on hand. Save one when you empty it and you can fill it back up with tap water during your travels.
