You have a beautiful backyard! I can hardly wait to spend more time there. Thanks for watching! ~ Mike

We travel to Buffalo and the Bighorns every year for 2-3 months. We hike all over the Bighorns. We absolutely love it there. Not as touristy and just an astoundingly beautiful area with lots of history and great people.

That sounds like a great way to spend part of the summer. I really liked them and I'm looking forward to going back sometime soon. It's such a beautiful place with so much wild country to explore. Thanks for watching! ~ Mike

I would disagree with the tourists thing. Our mountains in the last couple of years have to popular with social media.

Been going to and camping in the Bighorns since 1994. Usually once a year but I have been there three times in a single year. Its a long haul from Kentucky but my stress seems to melt away while out there. Its 8/24/2024 and we just got back home two days ago. Did a minimalist trip this time. We used a rooftop tent and awning with walls on our Silverado. Had a great time. We also took a long loop back home by dropping through Colorado down to New Mexico and spent a night at a campground near Cimmaron, NM. The low or no humidity West is addictive to a Ky native.

That sounds like a great trip. Hopefully you were able to escape the summer heat. I lived 28 years in Alaska really missed the dry, low humidity of the west, but I'm living in northern Utah now, which isn't as wet, cold, and dark in the winters and so far, it's been great. This was my first time in the Bighorns and I loved it! I'll definitely be going back at some point. It was such a great place to camp. Thanks for watching! ~ Mike

I really liked the Big Horn Mountains. This was my first time in the area and I was really impressed. I'm hoping to spend more time there this summer and Bomber mountain sounds like an interesting hike to an historical place. Thanks for the suggestion and thanks for watching! ~ Mike

What happened to your gas door??? I'm kidding, as I also drive a Gen 1 Tundra. 😅😅😅 Luckily my door is still held on by half the hinge. I live in Worland so I'm 30 minutes from the Bighorns and I thank God for the opportunity to camp in that same area. Also, the trout in Meadowlark are delicious!!

Lol. The funny thing is, I just bought another 1st gen this summer and the door fell off within three weeks of me owning it. I have replacement doors for both of them, they just need to be painted and installed. The Bighorns were awesome! I can hardly wait to go back. Hopefully next summer. Thanks for watching! ~ Mike

Great video. If you pull the straps on that osprey backpack it will fit right up to your back which might be more comfortable

In my view the Bighorns are the most beautiful mountains in Wyoming.

Hi Wyoming Traveler. I sure did enjoy my time there, and while I'm inclined to agree with your assessment of them, I haven't been in the Wind Rivers yet. I've heard good things about them too. I'm looking forward to returning to the Big Horns next summer and exploring some of the high country. It looks fantastic! Thanks for checking out this video! ~ Mike

You were in Elgin park. After Big Horn peak is Darton peak. Then Matters peaks. Bomber and Clouds peak in the flat topped one. I'm not trying to be a jerk but you weren't by Loaf mountain. If you come back here i would gladly show you some cool area's to check out. I live in Buffalo. 43 years of being everywhere on those mountains. Nice job with your video!

Thanks for setting me straight. Since this was all new to me, I probably got a name or two wrong. I'm glad that you enjoyed the video despite my naming errors. I really liked the Big Hornes and am looking forward to going back sometime soon. When I do, I'll reach out to you for some suggestions. Thanks for watching! ~ Mike

Now that would be a work out climbing up all these boulders. Doesn't look easy at all.

Yeah, it was a bit of work, but fun non the less. I really enjoyed the Big Horns and hope to make it back there this summer. Most of the high country is protected wilderness and I'm hoping to do an overnight backpacking trip, maybe try to summit one of the peaks, depending on snowpack, of course. Thanks for watching, Sandra! ~ Mike

The Big Horns are beautiful in the late Spring when there is still snow in them. But, I've only seen them from road while driving up to Montana. I haven't hiked in them. One day.

Hi Lisa! I absolutely loved the Bighorns! I can hardly wait to get back there and do some more hiking. This place is incredible and vast. The wooded areas that we were camped in were just perfect and private. There are a lot of dispersed camping opportunities here too, so you can really get away from the crowds. I'm planning on doing a backpacking trip here next summer... stay tuned! Thanks for watching, Lisa! ~ Mike

Thanks for your input. I started this channel explicitly to encourage people to get out, learn about and enjoy their public lands. Each week I try to feature someplace that might be of interest to people looking to learn about places that they might not have heard of before. I also try to encourage people to be responsible while they're out enjoying the outdoors and to be good stewards of their public lands. The Big Horn Mountains are no secret. They are one of the iconic mountains ranges of the west, and in my view, encouraging people to go and experience them is a positive thing. These are, after all, lands that are owned by all Americans, and as land owners, we should all be aware of their ecological, historical and recreational significance and that is why I try to encourage people to learn about places like this. I also have several subscribers who are older folks that cannot go out and experience places like the Big Horns and these videos I produce, provide a window through which they can experience beautiful places like the Big Horns. I hope that you enjoyed this video too. The Big Horns were quite an experience for me and I'll be returning next year to explore them more. Thanks again for your input and for watching this video. ~ Mike

I think anybody found with aerosol paint while hiking in a National Forest should be treated just like the people found with illicit drugs or rape kits. I have no objection to tags if they are on self-inflicting people as tattoo.
