Summer is here and one of the best things to do is go camping! For this year's camping trip, we decided to spend the summer Camping at the Columbia River Gorge, which is located between Washington and Oregon just 30 minutes south of Goldendale and near Hood River in Oregon.
If you're looking to find a nice camping spots that provides fire pits, shower systems, and good wineries around the neighborhood, you must check out the Columbia River Gorge.
If you're interested in making a reservation for camping, check out the link below.

Since we're in the area, we wanted to go ahead and check out a few places along the way. Although you will have to drive at least 1 - 2 hours to check out some of these fantastic locations, they are definitely worth doing especially when you're visiting the Gorge.
--------------------------------------------------------
Guler Ice Caves
- A real in person ice cave located in near the town of Trout Lake. Yes there is ice even in the summer times, although probably wont be as plentiful as say in the fall or spring seasons, but make sure to come check out the Guler Ice Caves and experience what its like walking inside ... well an ice cave.
I would highly recommend bringing some sort of traction shoe(s) or perhaps some microspikes or yacktracks to help walk in the cave because the floor can get very slippery.
You will also need a North-west Forest Pass in order to park here, or pay the $5 day use fee. No real hiking needed. Just park your vehicle, walk 2 - 3 minutes and you're there.

Panther Creek Falls
- Just 40 minutes from the Guler Ice Caves. It's a beautiful and magnificent waterfall that's located in the southern aspect of Washington State. No parking pass will be needed, although the trail to the hike can be hard to spot if you don't know what you're looking for.
- When approaching the trail, look for an area where you can park your car. Start walking down south on the road and you find a small little trailhead that will lead you to Panther Creek Falls.
- Panther Creek Falls has 2 lookouts. The first one is easy to get to and provides a view from the top. Make a quick stop here, but otherwise i'd recommend everyone to head down towards the bottom of the trail to get the real view of Panther Creek Falls.
- Should take the average person no more than 30 minutes to get down.

Spirit Falls
- I visited Spirit Falls back in early 2021 and it was so beautiful, I had to come by and check it out again. Spirit falls is a relatively easy hike that's ~0.8 miles to get to the falls. One caveat is that the slope to get down towards Spirit falls can be a little steep so make sure you got some good traction on your shoes in order to minimize your risk of slipping down the slope.
- Expect to see beautiful waterfalls throughout the year and is also very common for hard-core kayakers to come by and continue down their journey which eventually meats up at the gorge.
- No parking pass needed here, but make sure you input the directions/ location of Spirit falls on your GPS as there are no signs indicating where to turn

Beacon Rock State Park
- If you're looking for a beautiful spot to look at the Columbia River Gorge, definitely come by and check out Beacon Rock State Park. The hike itself is pretty easy at 1 miles to get to the top and the hike itself is pretty shaded.
- Take a look at the beautiful architecture and bridges that make summiting to the top a marvel!
- You will need your Discover Pass to park here, otherwise pay the day use parking fee
