You camp in areas I love! Valley Of Fire is amazing, the hiking, the Hieroglyphics and many adventures. Last time we were there they were filming a Mercedes/McLaren commercial.

I was in Vegas last Thanksgiving and rented an ICE vehicle and did a morning trip out to V of F. Parked in the lot that was the wrong one for you. Lol. Great hike and awesome landscape.

I did this trip on Sunday 4/3 in my black Model Y (I drove all the way from Reno and saw the Beatty donkeys you showed us)! I felt like I was just walking in your footsteps, wow Valley of Fire was great. I hiked through the white domes trail with the caves, super cool. Thanks for sharing!!!

Oh cool. Yep it's a fun drive. I wasn't expecting the Donkeys so was quite the surprise that first time 😀 As for Valley of Fire... I'll definitely be going back and trying a few of the other trails, although I better do it quick as it'll be too hot in a few weeks. Thanks for watching!

I was worried about you. Maybe get a 1.5 or 2.5 liter Osprey water bladder for your hikes and use AllTrails on your phone so you don't get lost. Love your content!

Thanks Bob! I knew this one wasn't too far and I did have signal and water so wasn't too worried. Always smart to be extra careful though and prepare for the worst. I'll definitely bring a backpack with some supplies going forward as things could change in a minute. I appreciate the kind words and for watching. 😀

Which Jackery are you using? How many watts?

Hi Joe! I'm running the Jackery 1500 and also have 2x100 watt solar panels. The Jackery 1500 will do up to 1800 running watts, but will accept spikes up to over 2000 watts. It's been great for running electric cookers as well as powering all my devices. Thanks. Tried the same pair a half a size up and slid around so went with these. Someone suggested 1000 miles socks so will give those a try. It might just be these hiking boots too so may try a different brand.

What wireless plan do you use for watching movies when you are remote?

Hey Jeff - If I'm watching on the car, it's included with the Tesla Premium connect which uses AT&T and there is no extra cost. If I'm using my laptop I currently use a MIFI hotspot from T-Mobile called the M2000 which I get 100GB/mo for $50. My phone also has unlimited through T-Mobile network for $30/mo. All that is changing starting next week though as I just received my Starlink dish from SpaceX which will give me unlimited data up to 300mb down. I'll set this up when camping and should give me great high speed internet no matter where I am even in the most remote areas which is sometimes an issue in remote camping areas like National Parks. I should have a full review/test of that setup next week.

Nice episode! Always look forward to them. Hey question what screen protector do you use for the Tesla dashboard? Also your jackery is a 1500? Running the air fryer for 30min what a,punt of wattage does it use.

Thanks Joel! Let me do some digging and see if I can find the one I got. As for the Jackery... I think 30 minutes straight would be probably half or so. I would think more, but when I've done chicken breasts for almost 30 minutes it was around 40% I believe. I can usually get two large meals if I'm using the air fryer and the hot plate. I usually then just plug it into the two solar panels and let it charge up each day or into the car if there's not much sun.

I was wondering about having a camp fire does the camp fire smell get into the car? From the doors being open and your clothing?

Thanks for the question… I try to make sure the smoke isn’t going directly inside the car. If it was I’d close the door or move it. Never really smell anything in the car the next day and any camp fire will make your clothes smell a bit, but usually not too bad and comes right out when washed.

super nice location. reminded me of sedona somehow ... or grand canyon where we did the hike down to the bottom and up again in onegonwith 2(!) litres of water for 4 people. we made it thx to mountain training in Europe but really just ... gosh we were stupid europeans. also because we are used to hike uphill first and then downhill and there it was of course opposite. plus it went up to 45degrees celsius and you never have that in the alps.

Thanks Uwe 😀 Yep, it can turn dangerous in a minute of you aren’t careful, but it sure is beautiful!. Very similar to those areas. It definitely felt more strenuous, but luckily all the trails are fairly short so even an idiot like me can’t get too lost 🤪

It does not. I initially wanted that too, but you have to remember it has to circulate air so being in a closed environment could pose issues on hotter days.

Enjoyed this one! Love the shots of the remote camp sites. How close was the nearest other site? And what percent did you end up with when you got home?

Hey Nick - Thanks 😀 The nearest campsite to me was about a football field away (maybe 75-100 yards). They were pretty spread out there. I ended up with about 20% when I got home so Tesla was right on with the estimates. Got to the campsite with around 55%, Camp Mode used about 12% during the 13 hours I was there at a comfortable 68º F and got home with around 20%. Plugged in using my Tesla Wall Charger and was back up to 85% (what I charge to during normal daily use in town to preserve battery life) in 3-4 hours.

I just checked my friends Model 3 and I surprisingly didn't see a place for the hooks to grab onto. His was a 2021 Model 3. It would still work, but may move a bit if you don't have anything that a hook can attach to. There was a place in the top back part where there were some holes that would work. I still think it would be fine. Nice thing is it's from Amazon so you have 30 days to return and OEDRO says they'll honor 90 days no questions asked. Hope that helps 😀

Thanks. I already do that in dozens of other videos, this wasn’t that. It was a light camping trip for the night. You only have to go back a few videos and you can find plenty of detail. Pro tip - if you want more detail, try watching more than one video 😜

I've watched a few of your videos and really enjoyed them. Keep up the great work! Now that you've been doing it for a bit... anything interesting that you've learned that others could benefit from? Living, even part-time, in a small space can be liberating as you have less stuff to worry about, but also can be frustrating in the same regard. You travel with your dog as well so imagine you have to take that into consideration when going to National Parks etc...
