Welcome to Joy Machine, a motorcycle adventure show about camping and enjoying nature on two wheels. In this episode, Calen and Nika "show and tell" their Harley Davidson motorcycle and then head off in search of a secluded camp spot along one of Washington's beautiful rivers. After a stop at Deception Falls, they stealth camp and swim while enjoying each other's company as the sun sets on another gorgeous summer day.

So glad I found this channel. This is motorcycling at its finest! Not a fancy touring bike that blocks the wind and the whole purpose behind riding. You two, the bike, and the open road. No better adventure and bike trip!

1999-2000 Evos had bad main bearings. No recall. Harley only agreed to fix at its expense if they failed. Mine did in Pinedale, WY. I limped the Road King to Rock Springs where I had to buy a new bike to return to my home in Oklahoma. Dealer said it would be 2 weeks to repair because of Sturgis traffic. Check your bikes history. Check your bike’s history. If your main bearings have not yet failed, keep this in mind as you travel. God be with you both. Your videos are superb. Thanks.

Well done! I took your advice and headed for Beaver Lake Campground, but ended up driving right past it (thought it was farther down the road). I found a place called Boneparte Lake Resort, which definitely wasn't stealth style camping, but a cool spot nonetheless. I also cruised on over to Bodie, which is a great, but brief, stop. Did the North Cascades Loop, which I thought would take longer than it did (only took two nights, partly because I came back on I-90 instead of HWY2). Now I have more time, so I think I'm off in the direction of Forks. So much awesome terrain in Washington - I was in the mountains, desert and the plains all in a day. Thanks again for the tip and ride on.

Hearing about your trip makes me want to go back to that area and explore Bodie and other places we did not get to see. I am going to look up Boneparte Lake Resort. Sometimes resorts are just what is needed after a long ride. Enjoy the ride and thanks for the update!!!

Calen, I appreciate that you do so much work on your own ride. My first bike was the same, including making my own sissy bar! I have to ride six hours to the Ozarks to ride in scenery that is more than simply cornfields. So, I'm corn-field green with envy of those of you in the Great Northwest....ahhhh and cold, clear water, too.

I think of those Evos as the end of a long line stretching back to the first Knucklehead in 1936. 1948 came the Panhead and then the Shovelheads. The Evos share that single cam technology. Your bike is the last year before the Twin Cam came along. I had a '91 Heritage, it was a great bike. Maybe I should have kept it... At any rate, thanks for the great video. Good job gearing up in the leathers with good boots and gloves.

With the angle of the bike you get less indoor space on the high side, might work if we had just one person but with two we need as much room as we can get haha. Thanks for the input though, we appreciate it. And thanks for watching!

Really enjoying the series. Note you switch between a self standing tent and the lean too bike tent (Able Brown?) I'd be interested in your thoughts on both. All the best!
@joymachinetheshow
@joymachinetheshow Жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot Mathew, glad to hear it. The self standing tent is made by a brand called Poler. It seems to me high quality, doesn't get wet around the edges or anything, has high quality tent poles, and is very easy/quick to set up. However, it does not pack nearly as small as the Abel Brown so it is pretty well impossible to bring on a long motorcycle trip while riding two-up on the bike we have. For shorter trips the Poler is great. The Abel Brown packs nice and small for motorcycling and is great for longer trips or anytime you want to save space. It does not take up much room in a side bag. Set up is easy, fits two people romantically (lol) with room to spare for some valuables. Does get damp from condensation on the inside at times, depending on the weather. I hope this helps some. Cheers.
