Just a tip regarding the litter. On one camping trip we used a litter that had a “lavender” scent. It was quite strong and it was all I could smell as I approached the bedroom. It really seemed like a litter smell. Not pleasant for your bedroom. We switched to Purina Tidy Cats free and clean UNSCENTED lightweight. This is the best litter we’ve ever used. No scent whatsoever. We highly recommend!

Wow!!! This is genius!!! Think I’ll be doing this for our 2 cats too... I absolutely love the cat tent play area too!! What’s that like for strength though? Your cat seems very calm, ours are too but I’m almost certain they’d at least try pulling on the netting at least to investigate what it is. What’s the strength like? Also, the tunnel part, does that sink? We have 2 cats, our girl is tiny so not worried about her but our boy is about the same size as your cat even though he has short fur so he’s really heavy. Does the tunnel sink? ...You guys are geniuses BTW!! Finally found someone who wants to & knows how to make a caravan a fun & safe place for cats!! We’re likely about to have to live in ours with our 2 cats while inbetween houses. The rental crisis is shocking here in some parts of Australia right now & it’s important to us we make it as safe, fun & comfortable as possible for our cats 🤗💜

We tried our cat in just the tent part at home and got her used to it at home in our backyard. We tried it in the house first and she literally bounced off the screen walls. We left it open overnight in the house and she familiarized herself with it in private, lol. It’s quite sturdy. Our dog shitzu-bishon has run through the tunnel to the tent and back. 🙂 I’ve built a support for the entire length of the tunnel so it does not sink. Also, we never leave that open for her use unless we’re home. I’ll do a video this summer showing how I made it and assemble and disassemble.

What brand of blind was that? How does your cat do in the car?

We don’t remember what the brand is or where we bought it-maybe Wayfair? The car does quite well in the truck. We have her carrier in the car as well as the litter box. When she was a kitten she did use the litter box while we drove but hasn’t done so in years now. She just waits till we get there (about a 4 hour drive). We always put the cat in the carrier before any doors are open and keep the windows up. She’s a bit restless at the beginning of the trip and meows a bit, then settles down and sleeps a lot. Whenever we slow down or stop she’ll get restless again. It’s doable for a few hours, I wouldn’t enjoy it for long stretches.
