Camping GAZ Lantern Mantle replacement pt.1

This is my lantern part of my GAZ lantern/stove combo. I show you how to replace the mantle, what it looks like and what it does. You get to see the power output of my propane/butane lantern during the afternoon time. You will see what it looks like on, the mantle heated up but not really burning except for in the beginning when the mantle is first activated and then it shrinks as it is supposed to. After the first time, it will light very easily. I will also post a part 2 video showing what the lantern looks like in the night time. This lantern has never let me down as long as I have a fresh mantle in it and enough propane/butane fuel. It last for hours and I rarely have to change the mantle, of course depending on use. Good to have also in home emergencies, when you have no power and have some spare fuel canisters. Hope you enjoy my backpacking lantern video and I appreciate a click on the like button. Remove the glass, fit the mantle, burn it without turning on the gas until its all ash, refit glass gently, turn on gas and light.

The instructions make it very clear that you set fire to the mantle first WITHOUT turning on the gas. It goes black and smokes a lot then magically turns white and bulb shaped. It's then ready to use with the gas turned on.

I believe you burn the mantle of a match ignition. Once it is burned you can then use the fuel to illuminate.

That also looks to me a large size mantle, you need a small sized one

Can you use butane propane mix cartridges in the lumogaz 206 it's the older metal bottom type thanks

What would happened if one would damage the mantle ?

I have damaged one before. It must be placed correctly and then lighted. It can just melt down then no more light. It's easy and a good idea to carry spares, there flat in the package and last a good long time. Hope this response helps.
