We go camping and fishing high up in the mountains of Utah. Unfortunately, the top of a mountain isn't a great place to be when there's lightning all around you.

When in my RV trailer I now carry a 4ft copper 5/8" rod and a pair of jumper cables..pound the copper rod into the ground and clamp the battery jumper to the rod and the other cable end to a bolt on the trailer. My trailer gets hit by lightning it will be grounded just like my house. I learn the hard way. Lightning stuck our electric transformer and the electricity travel to my rv, no ground rod...$7800 electrical damage.

Safer in the car, not because it's higher, but because the car is a Faraday Cage. @2withnature2 ай бұрын
Thanks! They don't make something like that specifically for this tent, but you could always put a tarp down for that. It is super comfortable camping with this setup though. And they were delicious, thinking about it now is making me crave them again!
@Ninety992427 күн бұрын
@@2withnature A good tent should be water-proofed in all the seams. A tarp or a ground cover/foot print is mainly to protect the bottom from being scratched and/or punctured by the ground. The foot print made specifically for the tent is usually the same size, if not slightly smaller than the bottom of the tent to prevent water from accumulating there. Sitting in a puddle of water will eventually causes the water to get in no matter how good the initial water-proofing is.
