Camping in the DESERT in a Roof Top Tent

Sometimes you just have to get out... I loaded up the mules and some hounds to try out my new Roof Top Tent .. windy and cold but had a good 2 days 1 night .. I plan on more of these trips it was a good 2 days ..

When you take the pack mule it makes it look more real . Like back in time when the old prospecter took his pack mule with him and he had all his tools and food and winnings on it and he would Moses in to town to take his finds to the claim shop to have it analyze lol I love it .😊 Keep hunting thanks for sharing 😊😊😊😊😊😊

Those exams suck, especially the prep. I can’t believe what those mules can walk through with you riding. Looked like a fun trip. My old hips don’t like too hard a mattress. I found a 4 inch self inflating one that is super nice. Almost better than my own bed.

Small bag of charcoal and a hibachi grill or an even smaller setup. Couple bricks and small toaster oven rack. I can always rig something if given the chance

G'day Brett glad to see the roof top worked out for you and you remembered to take the OMRB (old man relief bottle) to bed with you ain't nothing worse then waking up at midnight in the cold and finding you left it down below.This year I done a hunting trip down south here in Qld Australia in mid winter I wasn't prepared for 7 nights in a row with the temperature -4 I luckily had a afoil survival sheet with me put it in the canvas swag cover and it saved my arse big time.Keep on doing it mate can't beat that bush serenity to reset the mind.

Hey have you ever tried sleeping in a hammock when you camping up high and their are trees. It’s pretty easy on the old body and softer than the ground. Their s guy I watch named Shug in Minnesota by the Great Lakes that camps winter & summers in a hammock. He your age and I do it yo car camping and I’m 73! Good for thought

Bruce just made camp right there, said, "well, we aint going anywhere now". 2 trucks, 2 horse trailers. all sunk to the frames.

I know what you mean. Taking care of the Fairgrounds here, I get very, very sick of people. I do my best to keep away from them. Exactly what I say about sleeping bags.....you'll survive, but you'll be miserable! I've been wanting one of those RTT's. They ain't cheap! I was going to try to make one. I was kind of leaning towards the "Clamshell" type, but I dunno???? How do you like yours? Getting dressed laying down would be a pain too. Yours looks like a hard shell once it's closed up? What about rain? If you fold it up in the rain, and the tent is wet, does your bedding get wet? We don't get time to camp much anymore, but if it was easier to just go for the night, we might more often.

Your right it was kind of expensive ... after seeing what you can make I bet you could .. I know I couldn't lol ..so far I like it .. not too hard to put up and take down.. I did have it wet one time on a job and when it folded up everything stayed dry. That is what I was thinking with this .. I wanted to be mobile .. come and go easier .. time will tell .. Thanks !
