Days like this don't get much better for us. We got to wake up in the mountains with the sun pushing through the canopied forest and a cool 60 degrees. After quick game of fetch and breakfast for Koda, we were ready to get our day going!
We packed up quickly and begun to head a bit south, into the lower Green Mountains, to an area that is typically secluded, peaceful and beautiful. Driving around Vermont is part of the fun for us. Its always such an incredibly scenic adventure, no matter the time of year.
From the deserted windy roads to the bumpy gravel trails through the woods, we eventually made our way to the first of two bodies of water. Although the first lake is gorgeous on its own (Koda made sure to grace it with her presence), we have a special spot about 30 minutes further down the dirt forest road.
We typically visit this area whenever we're nearby ,due to the fact its not the easiest to get to and usually pretty empty. Yet, in our opinion, it's one of the most beautiful lake side spots in Southern Vermont. Heck, perhaps all of Vermont.
We finally arrived to the reservoir and Koda again, went for a lengthy swim, as I prepared dinner. For us, we like it quick, easy and simple. Steak, mushrooms and asparagus was on the menu tonight, one of our favorite meals on the road!
In the end, our spot proved yet again to us, that we were exactly where we wanted to be at that moment. Our stomachs were full and minds empty, just enjoying the beautiful landscape and solitude as the sun started to slowly trickle down.
Always excited to get up to Vermont and already looking forward to the next trip! Thanks for having us VT!
