CAMPING MUNICIPAL 'LE VIEUX CHÂTEL'. COMBOURG. ILLE-ET-VILAINE. BRITTANY. FRANCE VAN TRIP. SEPT '23.

A little worse for wear, from the night before..... we set off for our next stop as we make our way throught the Breton countryside.
We're trying something a little different this trip....heading for more 'town and country' sites, rather than just being beach bums, which means we're intending on trying out different types of campsites this time around, including municipal and smaller independant French sites.
With that in mind, we head for the small, but quite bustling town of COMBOURG, and the local municipal campsite- 'Le Vieux Châtel'.
The campsite, is small, friendly and has everything you need...including a 'meet and greet' night!!
The town is reachable by foot or bike, has a lovely lake, and the impressive 'Combourg Chateau,' which can be visited for a fee. The town also has plenty of bars, cafe's and small boutique shops to pass a few hours perusing.
A lovely little stop!!

Ah, the municipal sites, that brings back memories, looks like a lovely wee village, i would have wanted to go and investigate the Chateau on the hill. What David didn't tell you was he went to order the croissants for breakfast, suggested getting some ice cream and came back with 2 ice cold bottles of white wine, never did get my ice cream 🤣🤣. Lovely video as always, take care both xx

Looks good site and lovely town. We were at Jurgan les Lacs at same time. Karen is busy planning next years trip taking in La Rochelle and hopefully some more on south Brittany coast where they are building cycle routes along GR34.

Hey guys. It was a really nice site...the town was a lot busier than I expected though.... and Karen, you're far too organized!!....putting me to shame. You're giving Mr Grumpy the crazy idea that I should actually know where we're going next year!!....in advance...😲😲😂😂

We preferred the few municipal sites we stayed on over the big sites. We still talk about the one at Le Mans that sold ice cold bottles of white wine very reasonably priced 😂 Oh and enormous croissants for breakfast. First day one each second day we shared 😂 Glad you enjoyed your stay.

We hit a few more on this trip, and it works out really well, so it's something we'll definitely be looking at more in the future. Much easier to get to the smaller towns too....which makes a nice change! And don't talk to me about croissants.... I put over half a stone on over this trip!!😂😂😲👍🚐❤️
