Your boat is a Drascombe Long Boat, designed in Britain for coastal sailing, not protected harbors. One sailed from Greece to Britain in the 1960s another across the Pacific in the 1980s.

I was more interested in the boat than the camping.

I i worked for honnor marine in 1969. 70 . And watched a couple of carpenters cut a Luger in half, and lengthen it to make the plug for the long boat, fascinating work, something i got to do quite a bit of 40 years later at Cornish crabbers.

It’s a white Drascombe Lugger isn’t it. It can be fitted to do night sailing and camping though.

Nice area and lovely conditions. I'm not a fan of the noise and smell of motors, so I'd have been more tempted to take twice as long without using one. Maybe using an anchor when the tide was in the wrong direction and tide + sail for the other half of the time. 🙂

In the late 60’s I remember David Pyle returning to Langston Sailing Club to show film footage of his voyage to Australia in his drascombe lugger HERMES. The boat proved to be versatile, coping with shallow waters and the deepest of seas.

That's a Drascomb Longboat. There are shorter versions called the Lugger and the Dabber. They aren't racing boats but they can be single-handed. I used to use mine when I was 13, single-handed. Currently made by Drascomb and Honnor Marine.

So, there we go folks. In the midst of the Dominic Cummings furore, we asked our kitesurfing guru for a simple statement of clarification about the day, to see if it fitted with the guidance that the British public (you and me) have been diligently following, but none was forthcoming. See Jamie's comments also, which I whole heartedly support. This isn't North shore Oahu, we have 37048 death at time of writing.

@@chriscolumbus5061 Admittedly some parts of the government advice are pretty confusing and the media hasn't helped. But the advice about not spending a night away from home is black and white, no media brain washing involved.

Don't you just luv millennials and their lack of knowledge? Never mind 'perfectly still' days when there's no wind for sailing! Are you aware a plywood original Drascombe sailed from England to Australia? look it up, David Pyle, the book 'Australia the Hard Way', the boat 'Hermes'. Three guys in one tent? How sad is that? Should have been one guy and a bikini clad girl.....
