Episode 6 | Trek to Shamshi | Part 1
First night camping under a rock at 14,000 ft.

The last real trek we did was back in 2022, when Ahmar and I went alpine style to Sarpass. With the hospitality business being extremely demanding we couldn't find the time to get away for a few days.
Lucky for us our dear friend Jai, who is from Bombay and has lived in the valley for 7 years before moving to Goa visited us, we knew we all had to go away for a few days.
None of us had ever been to Shamshi but heard incredible things about it.
Shamshi is known for its vast open grounds with the river flowing on ground level with humungous snow clad mountains surrounding us.
Shamshi is also a base for people who want to the infamously known pass to serious climbers : Sar Umga Pass at 5,200 M which takes you from Tosh to Spiti.
We decided to do a 4 night trek to Shamshi to reset our minds and get a well deserved break from a busy summer.
Hola! We are Ahmar & Shristi. We run a homestay in Tosh, Himachal Pradesh. We are from Bombay & Bareilly and have been running a small homestay since 4 years. If you recognize Ahmar from before 4 years, then yes! he was running a hostel with his mates in Shilha before moving to Tosh.
Our channel will be all about life in the mountains, some treks, our daily interactions with guests and locals, living the local rural life and some life skills that we have acquired while living up here!

First place was Budhhaban where you camped initially, I guess. Windy to rehna thi tha, Tosh mein after 5pm aisa hi rehta hai - you already knew it, right?

No, we did not camp at Budhavan. We passed it, we stayed at Sharam Thatch and we had never stayed there before. 😊 because it's so narrow in the valley near the thatch the winds blow very aggressively because of the tunnel effect. We recently learned about this !

Depends on which season you go in, but it is definitely moderate to difficult.
