Thanks Suzanna, your positive energy shines through your videos. The joy you convey of just sitting in your tent watching the view on a drizzly weekday with cup of coffee in you hand is heartwarming. Love your traveller's tales too. Thanks again for taking the time and extra effort to share you journeys. Making it up as you go along and changing plans is part of the adventure. The next hill I encounter I promise not to moan about.

Wonderful Susanna!! Best of luck with the next stage of building yourself up to doing all that you want. It's truly remarkable that you've found the strength to do all that you have. I know that pleasure that pulls you out again and again to savour the outdoors and sleep in obscure spots in your lovely tent! The highlight was seeing the orange Brompton going to church 😂 A great watch - humanity, reality and magic fully revealed!! 🙂
@susannathornton2 жыл бұрын
Hi Miriam, aw thanks for the lovely comment again, you always say such thoughtful things. Haha yeh the Brompton went to church... Actually the vicar or someone like that came in whilst was there, and I thought oh good we can have a chat and I said hello and apologised for dripping everywhere and he was nice but didn't seem that keen to chat and I wondered why then I thought well yeh I am bedraggled person with smeared glasses and a runny nose, in a vast yellow cape and clownish overshoes, with a nasty muddy tent with leaves and grass on it. He smiled politely haha and edged away haha

Thank you for another great video. I love all the information and historical facts you include. It really adds some context and interest to what might otherwise just be quaint little villages or big old towns! It's hard to see you struggle but I so admire you for not giving in and for getting out there doing what you enjoy. It so clearly lifts your spirit. Much love for continued healing and complete restoration. It is an absolute pleasure to share your journey. I hope you had a very well deserved rest at your dad's x

@johnbayley11092 жыл бұрын
I started watching your videos, Susanna, because I ride a Brompton and was interested in the set up you use and your kit etc. But now it has nothing whatever to do with any of that. It is all about your own, personal journey through your cancer journey. And your way of dealing with it, your view on Life, your unawareness that everything you say to camera is indicative of your positiveness (even when it’s wet, muddy and you’re clearly struggling.) Like most of your other viewers, I guess, it makes for self-reflection and self-evaluation. You are undergoing chemotherapy but inadvertently you are becoming a therapist for your viewers. Thank you. Keep struggling up those hills ( see what I did there) and enjoy the freewheeling on the other side. Now about that trip on your Brompton to Kilimanjaro……….
@timevans91952 жыл бұрын
I’ve been watching your videos for a long while but haven’t commented before.....however I felt I had to say how much I admire you for your strength and determination to keep on cycling during your chemo treatment and despite it’s side effects - you’re a wonderful inspiration. It was hard seeing you get so tired when normally I’m sure you’d have breezed up those hills, I really felt for you ! You’ve certainly opened up my eyes to touring on a folder..I’ve done a few folder bikepacking trips now, my favourite being from Newcastle up the coast to Berwick upon Tweed - a lovely ride past beautiful coastline and historic settlements and castles. I did that on an old Dahon but have recently bought a nice second hand Brompton and I’m loving it, they’re so versatile! Anyway I hope your treatment continues to work well and keep on riding!

Very well done for persevering through the fatigue, blurred eyesight and runny nose, none of which are a world of fun, particularly when cycling. You made a great camp, and your meal looked delicious (I was hoping that even though your nose was running, that you'd be able to enjoy the smell of your supper cooking). Your routing was really good for cycling, very impressive, and I particularly enjoyed your knowledge of the aspects of the areas you travelled in. Thank you for taking us along, and good luck recuperating.

What an unexpected pleasure to see you had posted a new video today. It was great to see you on the bike in the Peak District and there was some really good views especially on day one. I always love that you are happy to resort to your 24 inch bottom gear (two feet!) in order to fully appreciate the surrounding countryside! The miner carving and coffin lid were really interesting, what a find they were. Keep up the good work, I am not sure how many rounds of chemotherapy you are having but hope you are still managing to get out even though now it is getting colder.

You make wild camping look effortless and the perfect way forward. I just wish I had the bottle to try. Thank you for taking us with you on your adventures. As I say, you are truly inspirational.
@susannathornton2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sharon! aw thanks, what a lovely message. Hope you do get the tent out one day and pedal somewhere nice and camp wild. I feel nervous camping wild too. I am mainly nervous that I won't find a good spot before it is dark. But once I have got a good spot then it's so nice getting the tent all cosy, and watching things and listening to things, owls and whatnot. I know there is a risk that something awful happens to me out there all alone. But if I camp in a sensible spot, the risk is really small. And the reward is massive! Anyway, thanks so much for writing!! Happy cycling!

What a great way to conclude the 4th treatment, with a 2-wheeled escape to the countryside! You have far more strength and resilience than you give yourself credit for. Even so, I was reaching thru the computer screen to try to help you push up some of those hills. Sorry I lost my puff and couldn't get you all the way to Hathersage. But no bother, changed plans are part of the adventure. And I so admire the flexibility a Brompton and a train service provides the intrepid wanderer. That woodland wild camp was wonderful and the history tour fascinating! Thanks for this invigorating autumn ride. Till next time, ATB. Brad.
@susannathornton2 жыл бұрын
Aw thanks for the lovely comment Brad, yeh that's one of the reasons I use the Brompton, easy to bail out if needed, can get on any train or bus or whatever. Actually a few days later when I went back to London the trains from Stockport to London were all messed up and loads of them cancelled too, so it was a godsend to be able to just fold up and get on board any Avanti train (eventually). With a big bike it's difficult on that line, booking required, guards van only openable by the staff and only two bike places per train. So, yeh. Well, anyway, thanks for watching! Glad you liked the film! Yes it was a brilliant way to mark reaching the end of chemo!
