Interesting stuff Chris. You passed by both the villas we are buying too. It’s funny, when we drove onto Camposol on the Friday my wife (to be) and brother’s immediate reaction was not good to say the least and the first villas we viewed that day didn’t help too much, 3 out of 4 were just awful. Plans were changing and we were heading to Almeria (for us) and Benidorm (for my bro) for the rest of the week to look at alternative locations. But when I took Jan out for a walk around where we were staying on Saturday morning, her attitude did a complete 180 at walking speed rather than car speed with nice, well looked after villas on big plots and we ended up buying ours after a positive viewing on the Monday. A week after returning, I had my brother back on a plane for a day trip to view a perfectly located (for him), beautifully refurbished palace which he ended up buying too. Glad he did, I had already paid a 3k deposit on it to reserve it being pretty sure he would like it! And the agents were great, chaperoning him to and from the airport, to the notary to set up POA for his lawyer etc. An unusual place Camposol with its negative reputation driven from a small part of the urbanisation preceding it. It is definitely marmite but we believe we can be happy with a home there with good local facilities and with the diverse wider area close to it - as your Puerto de Mazarron video showed in one aspect of life, it offers a real variety of opportunity for a quality outdoor, healthy lifestyle within a reasonable budget. The properties are an incredible bang for buck, and real Spain is just outside of the admittedly mainly Brit enclave.
