You really need to stick a block of wood between the axle and breeze blocks. The breeze blocks could crack with the metal axle resting on them. The wood will absorb the shock and will allow the frame to settle evenly.
@CampOutWest
@CampOutWest 10 ай бұрын
This is good advise which we did not know about so thanks for sharing. I put a little 10mm sliver of oak and some roofing felt between the axle and the blocks to get true level. How much of a piece of wood do you recommend?
@MissingLink-hb9ov

that is spot on advice, I have put several of these up over the years and seen where they did not do that and cracked the concrete blocks.

@@CampOutWest if you can get them, get scaffold sole boards. They are about 2 inches thick. And about the size of a breeze block. And pretty much designed for this type of work. They are cheap as well. Less than a fiver each last time I bought them.

Putting the wood between the axle and b blocks will help prevent cracking,about 2.5 inches.You'll learn as you go,but the most important thing is to NEVER GIVE UP OK.XO

I’ve been binge watching videos I missed and this is the only time I recall seeing the building behind you (1:52). Is that the neighbors? Now things make sense to me seeing that. I thought you were building this house where one of the guest houses will go as shown on your map. I was thinking you were building a guest house first and would live in it temporarily. Lol. I wondered why you weren’t wanting to get out of your caravan first. It really shows that missing one episode can skew the perspective. Love your videos. Great balance between hard work, innovation, new skills, relationships, purpose and, of course, Maggie. I have a Maggie too. ❤

Just a note on the timber stack - if you’re leaving it there for any length of time. Strap it up to itself. I.e wrap some straps around them. It will help prevent them warping. 👍👍.

If you need to cut many parts of the same length, measure once, then mount support and stopper at the end of the first timber. Then just push the timber to the stopper, and cut. You will get the same length every time. Templates help to make repetitive tasks faster.

I haven't commented before but been following your journey. Have to say been loving it esp as living in South Wales and looking for a Small holding in West Wales. This really appealed to me guys. I think i need to rethink the old breeze blocks Paul. Had a few comments suggesting they're gonna crack and that sounds like a right mess to me. Looking online now at some steel adjustable axle stands with a 7000kg payload each, 4 of them should be a better option and easier to level the axle horizontally. One step forward and two steps back 😂 All i can say is thank you, and thank god for the comments section and all the advise.

Good wokings, but put something in between the concrete bricks and the axle,so the axle will not rust. Nice small drone you have there, but it is way too expensive in comparisment to something bigger from other brands. Sad, because i like the size of it. For 50% of its current price, it would be a much better deal.

We are really happy with the Hover, especially compared to our bigger drone is way more hassle to use and one of us literally had to control it at all times, we just love the simplicity of the hover, we can let it film completely hands free and carry on working :)

Great job you guys , tip for you to save measuring every upright cut a offcut to the size between the uprights and then use to space upright .ie assuming 400mm centres take thickness one joist from 400mm that is dimension between joists

So pleased to see how far you have come in your amazing journey, I love that you share it with us and we get to see how you are getting on, that little drone looks fab and so easy and compact I think maybe even I would have a go using that 1, wishing you all the festive cheer and a happy healthy and prosperous New year Big kiss for maggie xx

Epic! Really great to see this all taking shape! Once the framing goes up and it starts looking like a building - well that is a very satisfying stage! Have a bit of time off for Christmas maybe? Xxx

Thanks so much Kate! I can't believe after 1 year and 7 months living in the caravan it's finally happening! We have this week to finish up all our wedding editing and then we will spend Christmas at Jon's parents then back at the land to focus on the build after Boxing Day 🥰 very excited! Hoping for some nice dry days! xx

A while back I think you mentioned you wanted to be in for Christmas! I have a feeling that won't happen, but hope Welsh weather is kind to you so you can progress quickly and get in ASAP. Also hope you take a nice break for yourselves at Christmas time. Please show more Maggie, she's a cutey!! ❤

The, in for xmas idea isn't happening now, it was just going to be us camping in an uninsulated building with only a door and a mattress 🤣 , everything just takes us ages with editing our weddings(day job), life admin/living in a field, ordering materials and then doing the work in the rain, we don't want to rush it and make mistakes so just going at the pace we can and trying to do the best job we can. We will show more of Maggie, she's the best bit about the video's, she just doesn't love it outside when the weather is awful. Hope you have a good holiday season.

Enjoying the progress. The floor and walls will make it a comfy home. I spent many years in a mobile home like the ones you’ve removed. Overwintering in it was not nice!
