Campus life at the University of Cape Town (UCT) is more than just academics - it’s also defined by moments of discovery and connection. For many students, the journey begins with nervous anticipation - the first steps onto campus, the thrill of new surroundings, and the excitement of stepping into a future filled with possibilities.
As students settle in, those initial nerves transform into curiosity and adventure. Vibrant events like the Annual Welcome Festival provide an early opportunity for students to explore societies and clubs, meet peers and dive into extracurricular activities that enrich their university experience.
Even in the quieter moments, UCT has spaces for connection and growth. Whether over a plate of zinger wings in the Food & Connect cafés, late-night study sessions, in the library, or for around-the-clock hassle-free commutes on the UCT Shuttle, every interaction is a part of the rich tapestry of UCT life.
Reflecting on 2024, the year featured exciting events like UCT Day, showcasing inclusivity and community impact through initiatives such as the Food Sovereignty Programme. The Epic Job Expo provided essential insights for students’ professional futures.
The student journey culminated in proud graduations in March and September, celebrating hard work and determination.
Capping off the momentous year was the historic inauguration of Professor Mosa Moshabela as UCT’s 11th Vice-Chancellor. The UCT community came together to honour his leadership and shared vision for the university’s future.
