Cam, I wish I could thumbs up more than once. You have given every person that watches this a huge amount of very personal and highly relevant information, Thank you for being so open and sharing the journey with us all! My best wishes to you and all of your extended family and friends. Cheers from John EC Australia.

Thanks john. Yes it is confronting and can be embarrassing so I can understand people not wanting to talk about and open up about the issues. I thought it was important to be upfront and talk candidly about what to expect. From what I was told and what I found on the internet were woulds apart from my real life experience with this recovery. Cam

Cam, brilliant, your approach to your recovery is like your cad skills for the projects you make. Guys who need this surgery, in recovery do not watch netflix, start watching Cam’s KZbin presentations- it will take your mind off ‘down there’ and learn great tips in the workshop. Note a PSA test is done on a blood sample-simple pin prick in the arm-I have routine wide range blood tests done every 6-months-at nearly 82 and with a few health issues-I like to be proactive and nip anything in the bud early.

Thanks for sharing, and banging the drum for keeping up with PSA testing. Early detection is key to the successful treatment of any cancer, and the PSA is just so simple. Love the scale of your workshop projects!

Hi Cam, the fact is... if a man lives long enough, prostate cancer is the result. It appears to be a normal, if not altogether welcomed part of growing old. Of course, we found this out by autopsy results of males who died of other causes.... You are a great internet resource, obviously for tech/home shop issues, but sharing your experiences in other areas. Thanks for sharing, in your practical, engaging way. Keep on!

Thanks Nitrous, the same could be said for asbestos related deaths. If we lived until 200 years of age the natural asbestos in the atmosphere would also kill us. Yep the longer we live the more we chance disease. The trick is to get on top of it before it becomes a life and death problem, screening is the best tool we have at the moment. Cam

Hey Cam - certainly not too longwinded. Great to hear from you again and glad you're on the improve. You're doing a great public service sharing your details - I've not heard anything about prostate cancer at all from any other source, let alone this level of detail - great information. Good luck with the tests coming up. Thanks for sharing mate, cheers, Craig

Yes Craig, we need to get the message out there. Start getting you PSA levels checked from 40 onwards. 3000 men die each year in Australia and I can guarantee the vast majority of those blokes had no symptoms or any idea they had it until it was to late. 1-7 men will be diagnosed with prostrate cancer in their life. If caught early the survival rate is over 95%. So many more men can live to see their children and grand children grow up. Its so simple, get tested and get a track record of your results. Cam

Wow Cam, I have not been keeping up . Glad to hear things are going in the right direction. Excellent advice you have given. I will be praying things continue to go your way and I will catch up on the slotter project. ATB, Robin

Thankyou Robin, yes its been a stressful and exhausting 8 weeks but I am feeling stronger although still away's to go with the incontinence which may take up to 12 months to resolve itself. Looking forward to putting this behind me and getting back to a normal life. Yes the slotter is essentially finished and works exactly as the design intended, very happy with the final result. Cam

@@houseofbrokendobbsthings5537 Great Dan, this is such a simple message to get out to men. Having a yearly PSA test can be life saving if you end up in the same situation as me. It has a 95% survival rate if detected and acted on early. This simple test would save thousands of mens lives each year and save families so much heart ache. Get that track record on the go Dan and get the test once a year, even just for your and your families peace of mind. Cam

Great video Cameron. I know how this can go all to well. I lost my Dad to this evil disease. So as you say. Get the bloody tests men! Better to have a bit of discomfort from a needle or even the evil digital exam than suffer from the tail end of this evil disease. Hoping you a quick recovery and as much fun as you can handle.

Thanks for the video update Cam, I am at the same stage as you (Robotic surgery 7 weeks ago, catheter removal 5 weeks ago) so it's nice to see someone in the same position having the same issues, I can identify with all that you say, Some things I'm slightly ahead of you and some I'm still struggling to catch up to you. My Perineum pain went after 3 weeks, and urethra soreness the following week. The test of Void nurse was surprised to find my bladder empty because I had hardly managed to get any urine into the bottle, but had filled 3 pads. Still struggling with continence, but the volume of leakage and the ability to make it to the toilet in time with out leakage is improving. Fingers crossed things will improve over time (for both of us) and soon back to normal. Next project , Erectile function!! The urge and feeling is there but no physical effects yet. Keep on keeping on Mate

G'Day Colin, yes the recovery from this procedure can be a long one. I'm now 15 months out from my surgery and am back into my normal life. I went back to work 2 1/2 months after the procedure with the pads and I took a real dip in my leakage rate. This was due to the amount of movement and positioning around access scaffolds to develop work methodologies but I think the real increase came from the added stress and pressure from work, trying to play catch up on my projects. I finished a major Shutdown at work a couple of months ago, it was a brutal regime working 13 days on and 1 off over a 3 month period with 13 - 14 hour days and extremely high levels of stress. I had a relapse and ended back on the pads. Things have settled down and I'm now back to normal. I think things will get better under stress or I just need to manage the stress better and back down and ask for help when I need it. Erectile feelings are very slowly returning but I don't get down over not being as I was before the procedure. Medical Science is a wonderful thing and TriMix works extremely well for me and there have been some other life style benefits to this procedure. You will get over this with time, and your certainly heading in the right direction, give yourself time and patience. It does feel like 2 steps forward and 1 step back but when you look back in time like me you'll find your recovery will be very typical of all those men who have been through this. Good luck. Cam

wayne a Caron Hope all goes or has gone well with your surgery. Back in the mid 1950’s I was part of a cardio-thoracic medical team working at Leeds, LGI, with the first Melrose heart-lung machine, performing open heart surgery-leading the world in this field. We have come a very long way since those early days, it is routine surgery, which continues to make advances at a great pace. From your point of view, I understand your anxiety- who would ever have imagined knee and hip replacements? I am due for my second knee being done, takes all of 25 minutes and later, I am a new man. Good wishes for a speedy recovery.🇬🇧🇦🇺👍
