I've decided that Lois isn't badly written, she's suffering from the rare variant of Kryptonite, C-K. You'd think that'd be Clark Kent. It's in fact Copium Kryptonite that only affects Silver Age female characters and impares their judgement to the point they a) decide that they cannot live without male character x in their lives b) spend said life recklessly endangering themselves to attract the attention of male character x c) compare any other potential love interest to male character x and often tell said potential that to their face d) have a hard reset of their personality which leads them back to condition a. That was easy, right?
@ProjektTaku2 жыл бұрын
its an evolved form of pink kryptonite, which instead of making a male character like another male character (yes this actually happened to superman) it makes lois fall for any male character that exists.

I did spot the unrealistic iron lung arrangement where the device really should enclose the patient up to the neck. But given the weak attachment these Lois Lane stories seem to have with reality, I chalked it up to sloppy writing. That’s not to say they aren’t fun, though. Yes, we can sit back and laugh at Lois. Why not? Superman does.

There is also the question of how they could wheel this fake Iron Lung in without any hospital staff ever checking its function. Did he even have so much as even one doctor assigned to him? With no other care than just a nurse talking with him, why would he have needed a hospital room at all? Was their plan right from the start to somehow convince Superman to fly them out? How long were they expecting to wait for him to be available? So many questions :D

This is great! Silver Age Superman and Batman are great. This plot is actually clever. Kurt Shauffenberger will always be one of those artists that just having his work attached to a story will make it fun for me to read. Grew up with his Captain Marvel art (new and reprint), his Mr and a Mrs Superman and Superboy's new comic once the LSH swiped his title from him. It was always fun and exciting as a kid, but also was relaxing as well curling up with one of his books. Lois and Jimmy's comics too, but I think I'm getting more appreciation for those thanks to this channel. But the ones that really are a great rollercoaster are the sci-fi anthology he did (Strange World's?). They're hit or miss for the gems, but going in with the right frame of mind and they're all more diamond than rough.

This had me chuckling, nay giggling from the cover and first panel BECAUSE: Considering all the Super people/Mere people stories, Aqualung as a follow up was definitely a missed opportunity! In the first panned displayed, while Lois is complaining about who can/not marry her and why, Perry’s first thought is “Lois likes Hunt!” Practically invites you to make up your own joke. Also: really Lois? A guy in an Iron Lung? Must you compound your crimes!?! And Perry was ready to help, but only after dinner. True, the life and death situation was a hoax, but he didn’t know that at the time! Or did he? Great Caesars Chicken a la Poule!!!!

I started to get a little suspicious when they said that the only guy who could save Hunt is some Mexican doctor. Superman in other stories could learn how to do surgery in, like, a day and do the operation himself (helps that he has X-ray vision and doesn't have to rely on cameras shoved inside the patient) - maybe in a different version of this story Lois would plead him to do that, Superman angsts for a few pages over how Lois will go off with Hunt if he agrees but decides to anyway ("I love her . . . so I must let her go!" kind of deal) but then they get suspicious when Hunt refuses to accept help from Superman and keeps insisting it has to be the Mexican guy.
