I dread to think what would happen if you tried to do some actual applications of logarithms like pH concentrations or calculating decibel scales. You’d get some hilariously dangerous answers. This is why we still need humans to check these numbers, at least for now.

Ai doesn't struggle, unless if it's poorly made. In this case, ChatGPT hasn't been trained to actually read and solve math problems, so it's naturally going to be bad at it.

My students use mathway, symbolab, and photo math for worked out math stuff. ChatGPT was super cool for creating problems. I asked it to create a related rates problem and it did. It’s always difficult to create those applications so that’s awesome. I don’t really care that students use this stuff. It can be used for good when they are stuck and it’s not like they can use it on the exams

He is not a math teacher, he has made a plenty faults in his results. First for every log(f(x)) expression f(x) must be > 0, and then he has to find x which make f(x) > 0 for each expression and then do the intersection of each set of solutions, he is the worst teacher i have seen on internet.

Solution for first equation should not be nos from -1 to 1 since log will be undefined for those values

Actually, the solution to problem 1 is all x>1, and not all real numbers. That's because log(x-1) only makes sense if x-1>0.

You should make a follow up with Chat GPT 4, ask it the exact same prompts and see if it's improved and/or fixed the errors. Then throw it some new curveballs like "solve all of theoretical physics" or "calculate the probability of my dad returning with the milk 20+ years later"

I agree that for creating the problems was handy. I got some 2x2 linear systems of eqs. from the AI, then I requested the AI to give me the solutions and the solutions provided were wrong. When it cames to math I would use this tool for creating the problems only.

I tried something really basic to see if I could trust it or not. I did i^4 and I think it gave me -1 or -i, or something. From then I immediately knew it wouldn't be good for getting exact answers that I can count on.

The solution at 1:54 would not be all real numbers. You need to consider extraneous solutions - for instance, consider x=0. Here, the solution would be all values strictly greater than 1. The AI probably gave two as this is the first integer solution.

yeah, not sure how a math channel would miss checking for extraneous. and ChatGPT is a language model, it would need to be trained on lots of Mathematics language to even stand a chance to solve math properly. it's just pattern fitting things it's read before

Hey, it not right the solution to the third log problem is all real numbers. You need to make sure that x and x+1 to be positive in order log x and log x+1 make sense. Hence the solution is the set of all positive real numbers.

The first anz you are doing wrong. as the x in log x is impossible to equal to 0 or negative therefore the anz should be any real numbers but not equal to -1 to +1

Chachi PT is no help in calculus two it will help you if you don’t understand the concept but nine times out of 10 the problems are wrong my best guess is that it was trained on a lot of Quizlet and shag answers and half of those are wrong so it’s logic is probably a little messed up when it comes to calculus lol

I'll be impressed when the future versions can solve most or all math word problems correctly. I tried a middle school math word problem and BingGPT had trouble solving it correctly: Angela uses 7 1/2 inches each of 6 different colors of embroidery floss to make one friendship bracelet. Each package of floss contains 26 feet. How many friendship bracelets can Angela make if she has one package of each color? The answer is 41.6 or 41 complete bracelets.
