Can a masters 4 brown belt survive 10 minutes with adult Leandro Lo Black belt.

I had an amazing opportunity to compete in a super fight against 30 year old Leandro Lo black belt Mike Azevedo. Hoping someday to roll with all my idols regardless of outcome and this match was another bucket list opportunity. I’ve trained for 6 years and am improving every day. As a fellow Masters competitor I was rooting for you the whole time! I am a 44 year old Masters 3 Black Belt and my recommendation are two high percentage techniques to use in Closed Guard. When in someone's closed guard use the Sao Paulo lapel pass - plenty of videos on it here on YT. Start doing it and everybody at your gym will fear putting you in closed guard! There were literally minutes of openings for you to use that and with your size and strength my money would have been on you to get that pass with relative ease on that black belt. Once there you can use the paper cutter choke to finish or just sweat your opponent there. When you have someone in closed guard use the Gubber guard. Extremely high percentage, easy to get to once you master breaking and controlling posture, doesn't require any flexibility if you get there in phases and pretty much impossible to get out of. As a master I recommend them both as ways to try to compete with younger and faster opponents!

Awesome work. I can tell you have a great base in his closed guard but he still hit that flower sweep twice. Been sleeping on that sweep and will need to put a little more time in learning it.

Thank you pretty challenging I’m 18 years older and only 6 years of Jiu Jitsu. It was fun to roll with a high level black belt though. Really frustrating struggling to open his guard

Yea blood pressure a bit high unfortunately. Trying to avoid medication and I think wasn’t breathing properly. No illegal drugs of any kind 😂

Believe me I hated being stuck in it. I hate boring fights but it was the most difficult closed guard I have ever felt. Some matches just go that way unfortunately. Was definitely hoping he would take more chances but he still won
