Yeah, we let him stretch his little legs all along. He still has a lot of heart and try for his size and age. But we don’t ask him to do much. He’s living his retirement out now :) he’s got it made in the shade! But he deserves it. He’s a good one. He does seem to enjoy getting out and working a little all along. Thanks for the kind words and for watching! Take care buddy

I had a little bitty pony like that forty years ago, that I used like you'd use a wheelbarrow. Our front porch was at grade level, so I could drive him onto the porch. We unloaded firewood off the truck off in the side yard, too far to be easy to carry the wood onto the porch. Wheelbarrows are a tippy nuisance. I built a little sledge about 2 feet by 3 feet, and I made him a little harness out of scrap belting and baling twine. I'd load the split firewood on the sledge and drive him up on the porch, and he'd stand there while I stacked it up. Then I'd drive him out the other side and back to the pile.

I started with a mini pony in the back garden, and now have two 12 hand ponies.. but .so far the mini is the Only one that has actually been useful! The town people are a bit x ared of the bigger ponies and the cart is too wide for the gateways into the woods (meant to be footpaths)

To answer the question above: Absolutely. I have two big Percherons with way over 2200 pounds each, but sometimes I wish I had a small horse where a big one is just overkill. For example, getting potatoes in from the field, we never harvest everything at once, but just those quantities we sell to our restaurant customers on a weekly basis. You show other good examples.

Yessir for sure! Each has their own place and usefulness. One thing he’s done for me, is teach my kids a whole whole whole whole lot and get them a good handle on things. That’s irreplaceable. That’s why he’s living out his life right here on our little place living like a king. I owe him that! Thanks for watching and for the kind words as always. Take care my friend

Do you ever pet your mules when they are doing a good job just curious thanks enjoy watching my grand dad was a mule skinner in the 50&60s
@zachodom7486
@zachodom7486 9 ай бұрын
Yessum, I surely do. Sometimes it’s just a verbal “good girls.” And sometimes I’ll step up beside them and rub their necks or foreheads. I love my mules and they’re a big part of our family. They take good care of me, and I do my best to return the favor to them. When they give me good tries in the woods and pull hard etc etc, I’ll make sure they know I am thankful. And they understand more than people think they do for sure. They’re smart! When I’m riding them, and they do something good for me that I ask for, I’ll rub their necks and say “good girl” or “good job.” I don’t overdo it on the petting by any means, and I don’t do treats. But I do believe in praising them when it’s due. Thanks for the question! And thanks for watching. I really appreciate it. Your grandad sounds like my kinda man. Take care

Are miniature mules keep easy also?
@zachodom7486
@zachodom7486 9 ай бұрын
Yessir they are! Even easier than mini horses are. Prob is most little mini jacks are little buttholes. So it takes a good little mare to make a good minded gentle easy going mini mule. Most of em are turds! Lol. Thanks for watching
