I have a counter question. If living the life of prophet Muhammad is sunna.. Like wearing the clothes, the way he talked, the way he kept beard and other actions of prophet.. Why don't it extent to the simple life of prophet Muhammad.. It's also a sunna. But u tend to ignore it, in the name of sauliman.. It means, what's the condition of ur neighbour, is he eating full stomach of food, what's the condition of ur friends n nearby family. Show off for them is israaf. Because it breaks their heart.. And increases depression in society. Israaf is related to socio economic condition of the society and not with the salary. There r multiple Hadith on rights of neighbours, family members and social. A person has to give zakath every lunar year when nisab value exceeds, give charity, take care of parents and family. So if one's income is low, then how can he buy a mansion that costs high. We may find much happiness and peace when spending our hard earned income for our family, charity, etc.. than surviving in a so called mansion with low income. May Allah guide us, have mercy on us and forgive us.
