As always Greg great video and very informative. In one of your future videos could you please talk about what a "related organization" versus " controlled entity" is when it comes to nonprofits and how nonprofits or public charities can own for-profit companies but the nonprofit may have to report the ownership and profits of the for-profit company on section R of the 990/ez. I see Micheal Bloomberg the former Mayor of New York just gave away his business interest in Bloomberg TV to his nonprofit Bloomberg Philanthropies?

Not enough details here to give an affirmative answer, but in most cases I think the answer is "yes".

What about Daystar? How does that media church work? Are they tax exempt because they are their own church and not just working for one?

Hard to say. When we searched for Daystar in the IRS database, there were quite a few nonprofits with that name. If they have a determination letter as a church, then they must have a congregation that meets at a physical location in addition to their media ministry.
