A few things to note: when you do a rank up battle all of the games are in the rank you're trying to get up to. It's to prove you can handle the next rank. Since many S+ players downranked to S at the end of the last season, and you can manually downrank too, it's not too surprising people have the S+ badge in an A-S rank-up battle.

It's still mad annoying when you've deranked to A- and then see S+ players in your lobby A+? Fine you're gonna rank up soon anyway but anything under?? No excuse, it has to be on purpose or someone carried you into S/S+ 😭

@@laka4049 I don't think there's a hard line between the internal letter ranks. Basically, if it's separated by a rank up battle you won't see each other but if it's just arbitrary thresholds anything is game. So if you're A- seeing people who have deranked to A+ is very possible. I imagine there's gonna be a lot of people over time who just put the game down for half a year and come back several ranks down though.

For the mindset thing I recommend keeping a positive mindset no matter what because I find that the game becomes a lot more boring with a neutral mindset which makes me care less which makes me lose more

As an undercover umbrella main, I would suggest painting the ground more. Not only will it make it harder on you to run from enemy (due to low fire rate you have to have a getaway no matter what) but also help your team. Neat trick tap shot your shots so you don't have your umbrella out and you have a much better speed. Be aware of where your brella is to a bomb, you don't want to walk over a bomb and then suddenly it explodes.

The way I try to get out of the tilted mindset is going back to watch replays, and manually pointing out and acknowledging what went wrong, why it went wrong, how I can prevent it in the future, and what the opposite team did. Because your lose is another teams win, and complimenting someone's teamwork (even if they can't hear me) can drastically lift my mood. But all of the tips in the video actually help a lot lol

The PSA of emotional discomfort about Splatoon / gaming in general is a nice touch. I had three entries to learn that ha ha. When I completed my series I was more down to earth with myself kept my expectations low. I am surprised that the channel host did not squid bag the eclipse KZbinr back after getting the final splat, the channel host is a larger individual who does not steep that low, ha ha. Still attacking Hydra splatling / the whole team head on as if the under cover brellia is a slayer but it is acceptable because this is now "A Rank" ha ha.

A tip for using the undercover, I never saw you use mines and those can be extremely useful especially if you just took lead and are pushing (some modes can't do this like rainmaker but mines can help set you up for later Incase a push failed) If you aren't comfortable with using mines since you haven't been using them, I wouldn't worry about it, however it will help you a lot when recovering from an enemy push or even when pushing into their base

Clarification, since in rainmaker you are going for a goal and that's objective, you can't protect the objective with your mines very well, doing so at your own base will prove helpful however

Especially if you put mines in a position with the opposite team is likely to flank from, they can be a game changer for knowing positions of the opposite team

I'm an Undercover main, also with ADD, and like to go in with positive emotion from a mindset of puzzle-solving and being impressed or happy for my opponents when they manage to pull one over on us. It's always a mindset of "Nice--they were too smart for that one; let's try a different approach." One of my friends, by contrast, often complains about things being "unfair" or that his opponents "cheated" somehow anytime things go wrong, and it just saps the fun out of the whole experience. Presuming you're already amazing and anyone better than you is cheating is a toxic mindset that'll hurt your progress. Treating it as a learning and growing experience where defeat teaches you new things, however, builds tangible results.

I know this is super late but i think the tip you said for people with ADHD is really vital. I have ADHD too and when playing splatoon, your brain starts thinking about a whole bunch of stuff and it really really gets overwhelming. For us ADHDers, sometimes we NEED the reminder to just breath and take a break and that it is OK, or we can get angry and overwhelmed. Overall great video, and you got a new sub 🦑!!

I'm doing a tournament tin a few days and thanks for the advice and now I could give some suggestions on what you did wrong in a few of the games ( I mained vunder in s2 and using in s3 but less and I am S+ and have had really good games). The first game when you went to fight that heavy was not the best decision to use reefslide cause of vulnerability and he was almost charged so a better option would be to move back at the beginning and if he pushed you could use the reef in a better area since the heavy would have to push. Another one could be to use the reefslider since you are popping it so much to try and push which ends up getting you killed. P.s. your video was amazing keep it up man. And sorry if this is to harsh

@@fragzz one other thing idk cause we didn't see the other matches but you could use mines a bit more cause on the final match when you tried to fight the hydra you didn't have the shield so you could of moved back (since I don't think they didn't see you) and placed a mine until your shiled came back since the mine would have done max of 45 damage plus then you could of gotten the kill with the splash and the hydra wouldn't have time to react if he was on the pillar going for zone

I also think taking breaks from the game is important. I have recently lost my second rank up attempt to s+ and got really mad. I decided to play less splatoon and only play to get conch shells for the splatfest. I have been diamond painting instead i feel SO much better! Not forcing myself to play when i dont want to and instead doing somthing i like all the time has deffintly helped.

despite me getting all the way to s+ with it, i honestly didnt pick too much up about the weapon. it was mainly just my mechanical skill that got me to s+. one thing that i have seen a lot of people talking about in the comments is that you should try to use your mines as much as you can, as they can actually be a powerful tool. remember you have slightly longer range than most short range shooters, so try and use that as well. thanks for the kind words :)
