This is a fun little Hearts of Iron 4 challenge - I'm going to attempt to win the war and survive with AIR ONLY. I also can't be like Taureor and just go Democratic Germany; I HAVE to be the naughtier Germans and attempt to win using only PUPPETs, AI, and... ITALY. What do you think, can I beat HOI4 with only planes?

My suggestion would be to focus on getting your engine tech as well as your airframe tech upgraded as soon as possible, and always use Heavy MG guns. My ideal plane template is 3 heavy MG, 2 armour plates and 1 self sealing tank. Does very well against the AI. Light MG fighters are okay but ideally you need the higher air attack to chew through the AI planes. Endgame, you will always struggle becuse you don't have the rubber and aluminium that the allies have access to, unless you also get lots of synthetics or decleare an early war against the Netherlands / France to eat their colonies.

Japan and Britain are better candidates for this challenge since they both are on island nation with puppets and allies. To improve this challenge, using only air, you can: 1. Keep your army within the borders of your nation as garrison and defense 2. Send divisions as volunteers when Not in a war 3. Release puppets and use their armies for offensive 4. The other rules you have above can be used 5. Then ahead, the challenge is to win using only air, so a positive relationship with other countries and maybe Slovakia for Danzig and let Poland join your faction 😂

Indeed, Britain would certainly be simpler - however, I specifically wanted to try and do it as bad Germany :D I should’ve released more puppets though, you’re right!

in order to get both czh and yug you gotta demand slovenia/sudetenland then the other focus before doing fate of cze/yug for the world tension to not spike up

Perhaps try it as the USA as they have more oil and potential industrial capacity than anyone else.

Puppeting slovakia is quite good in general because of the compliance it gives you in Czechia (which is where like 95% of the Czechoslovak industry is)

If he wanted it, I would xD Thing is, it's EASILY savable if you just remove the requirements of Air only and start building tanks and stuff. Just would take an absolute age.

@@Aldrahill honestly yeah, but one of the Germany disaster saves I’ve seen him do was some other KZbinr did paratrooper only or smth like that, and they sent that in and it still made for a good video for Bittersteel anyway even tho he removed the requirements for paratrooper only

I don’t think it’d be a bad idea since you’re still at war with the US and you’re pretty early into Barbarossa with practically no offensive units or navy, and at this time a sub-par airforce.
