I used to spend my summers at Mackay with my grandparents, Floyd and Midred Sherry, both buried in the Mackay cemetry, My dad and uncle both graduated from Mackay High. Granddad was a minister there until he had to start working the mines to make ends meet. the mine you show at 42 seconds is where he worked. My older brother and I used to help Mrs Pence at Pence's Market, not sure if it's still there or not. Love to see that this old town is still going strong. I miss going to the Mackay rodeo too. Maybe some day I'll get back there and go riding the trails. Thanks for the videos brings back great memories.

The 50 inch trails, in my opinion, are the most fun to ride. Unless I lived around sand dunes and needed huge horsepower for that, I can't see why anyone would buy a larger machine and deny themselves the ability to go on the best trails. Sliding the corners of the old logging roads is fun too, but I just can't give up the trail riding, so I bought a 50 inch machine. First a RZR, and now the Can Am. And the Can Am rides better, probably because it's about nine inches longer.

Me and the wife just got a trail a few weeks ago, looks like everybody ditched stock tires. Very nice video
@MyATVlife5 жыл бұрын
I trashed my stock tires on their first trip to the Paiute Trail. 650 miles on them and every tread block was cracked and chunks of the tread block were gone. One had a hole in it that I couldn't get to seal. Replacing the stock tires was one of the best mods I've done. Stock tires were amazing for traction, but poor on durability. Congratulations on the new MT 👍 if you need any help with anything let me know.

That looks like some great rides. That's not to far from me either. Do you have any links to the different trails you went on? Thanks for sharing ur rides and info about ur Maverick. I got a 2019 Maverick Trail last year. I am happy with it. Other than trying to find best way to control the dust so it doesn't flow into the cab. I have a full windshield which makes it very bad. Last fall I ordered a rear window and a half front, I will have to wait for summer to see how that works.
@MyATVlife3 жыл бұрын
I didn't record my tracks while we were there. I was just playing "follow the leader". Sorry about that. I need to get better at doing that. But then I need to figure out how to save them and share them. Sounds like a lot of techy work that I don't know how to do. 🤣 I've run without a windshield and rear window since new just because of the dust issue. We don't ride in cold weather so not having a windshield is no big deal for us.

Hi Jason, Yet another GREAT Video! Nice job man! Hay, I have a question, Have you changed out you headlamps? They seem to be a whiter light than the stock crap the MT come with. I went to H11 bulbs but they got so HOT they melted my reflective mounts the bulbs lock into. $285.00 for a new set of light boxes. An expensive trial and error attempt to get more light out of the stock headlights. What are you running?
@MyATVlife5 жыл бұрын
Thank You !!! Yes I changed out my bulbs to some H11 LED bulbs. I'll post a link, but I have to say they are awesome and cheap, but they can't be "clocked". LED bulbs are suppose to be straight up and down with the LEDs on the side, these set at about a 45 degree angle, but they still work really well. As usual, entertaining and informative. Tell me, please, why don't you want a windshield?
@MyATVlife8 ай бұрын
Thank You ! We wear helmets, so we don't really need one. Plus windshields make the cab hot and dusty. We just prefer not having one.
@paulmillen21018 ай бұрын
@@MyATVlife Dusty because the wind eddys and deposits it, like a snow fence, as opposed to just blowing through?
@MyATVlife8 ай бұрын
Yeah. The windshield creates a negative airspace behind it and will actually draw dust up from behind and underneath. A windshield with good vents isn't as bad, but it still happens. Plus wearing a helmet cuts out the cab noise, we have comms in our helmets so we can just talk without yelling, we just prefer it to the windshield thing.

What size tires are on your machine? How much larger tire will it take ? Awesome video 😊
@MyATVlife4 жыл бұрын
Thank You My tires are 27x9-12. I've seen lots of people that run 30's. They will rub a little on the inner fender at full lock, but most people don't mind it. 28's probably fit the best, no rubbing at any steering angle/suspension position.

Very nice video! Is there many trails west of Mackay that a 64" rzr can ride on legally say in the Copper Basin area? I guess you'd call them jeep trails.
@MyATVlife5 жыл бұрын
Thank You ! I wasn't navigating so I really wasn't paying attention to where we were. 😆 From what I remember of Copper Basin it was pretty open with wide smooth gravel roads. The problem with having a 64 inch machine might be finding a way to loop it all together. But yes, big, wide, good roads over that way.

Very good. I’ve been riding since the 1980s but never had a SxS. Does Can Am have a better reputation for reliability durability than Polaris?? I’ve had 3 Polaris quads in my life and every one of them was a mechanical disaster. I went back to Japanese quads and never looked back. I don’t like fixing stuff so I’ve been considering a Kawasaki Teryx. No experience with Can Am though so have no idea how they hold up
@MyATVlife5 жыл бұрын
I can only really partially answer that question as I've only had limited experience with Can Am and Polaris, and only know what I've heard about the Teryx. I had three newer Polaris ATV's before buying this SXS. All three of them were very reliable (for the most part). One of them had issues early on that were fixed under warranty, but very few problems after that. I still have one Polaris ATV, I traded the other 2 in for this Can Am, and it has almost 3500 miles on it and runs and rides like a champ (knock on wood). This is my first SXS and my first Can Am. I'm just over 2300 miles now and have had zero mechanical issues with it (knock on wood). I can say from my experience that the fit and finish of the Can Am seems superior to the Polaris RZR of the same year. 2020 machines I can't say because it looks like Polaris and Can Am have upped their game quite a bit. If I was to buy another ATV I would buy a Polaris again, no question, but a second SXS I don't know. Probably another Can Am because this one has been very good to me so far. One thing I've heard about the Teryx (A friend of mine has one) it's near a mid-engine machine, and it get very hot in the cab I'm told. Other than that it's bullet proof. I wouldn't blame you for going Japanese, they all seem super reliable.

I'm a big fan of the 1000 just for the extra power. But in all honesty, everything we do could be easily done in an 800. In an all out drag race the 1000 would kill the 800, but that really isn't what these machines are made for. If you're just cruising forest service roads/fire roads and trails the 800 is more than adequate.
