All that spare threading your talking about is for a 2 stage spring setup which has a puck between the small and large springs which float, then the adjusters go up higher towards the top. Also it allows for multiple spring choices like the tall single progressive rate "all in one". It's just to allow different options
@curtisbull1583
@curtisbull1583 7 жыл бұрын
Home Built Can am certainly doesn't give you the best option they could. A dual rate spring set up would be the way to go I'm thinking, for the cost of the xxc it should come that way right from can am. Plastic color and Fox shocks were the reasons I bought the xxc. Seeing what I know now I would buy the base model, change plastics and buy a custom suspension set up. With the deals you can find on base models that would be a cheaper option with much better suspension.

I'm really hoping Yamaha gives us a Vtwin option in the grizzly, even if it's still a 700cc class, just for the response and HP factor. It'd be cool to have a rear diff unlock option too but that I'm sure is going to add cost to it that some don't want to pay for

Yamaha really needs to come out with a v-twin. Seems like everyone wants it, make it happen Yamaha. His explanation is exactly why I won't purchase a Grizzly, I really wanted one. Next ride will probably be a brute force, I had a BF 650 years ago, it was a great ride with zero issues. I put an aftermarket jet kit and exhaust, it was quick, fast and fun.

I probably should have stated in the video that I have used 3 different sets of tires on the grizzly. Neither of them took away the front end push, although the swamp lites that are on it now seem to perform the best so I have left them on it. If anyone's interested the grizzly is sitting at about 1400 miles. also noticed a little bit of an improvement with the shocks turned up all the way but then you do lose the plush ride although I still say it's smoother than most four wheelers even with the shocks turned all the way up.
@outlawchop-shop7468
@outlawchop-shop7468 7 жыл бұрын
Curtis Bull, the threaded body of the shocks is for pre-load/ride height. If you want a softer ride, i.e. for your lighter weight, you need to select the softer damping on the valve, not release the pre-load.

Outlaw Chop-shop I'm fixing to do another updated video on the renegade, but still have a stiffer ride then I would like, even after dropping both high and low speed compression down and loosening up the springs. The thing bucks me all over the place, rebound is turned almost all the way down.

Pretty good chat Curtis. You are lucky you got 3 pretty nice machines. I'm looking at getting my 1st and leaning towards a '19 King Quad. Your Renegade is pretty sweet but given its top dollar price, I'm not sure I could live with the issues you mention in your video and in the comments.

Another option you should seriously consider is a Brute Force 750. My buddy just got one and we all went on a big long ride last weekend. We had my Renegade, 2 Suzuki 750's and my buddies 750 Brute Force. This Brute Force has a lot of torque and a lot of power way more than the Suzuki King quads. We all really enjoyed the Brute Force. If I were to buy another four-wheeler of that type I would definitely go with her Brute Force. From what I gather the Kawasaki are good machines to and if taken care of will go a lot of trouble free miles. The Brute Force was pretty cool, it has more storage, a smoother ride, I think a little more comfortable seat and a much more sporty feel over the Suzuki's. In part because of the power. One thing I've always heard is that The Brute Force 750 get terrible fuel mileage. And my buddy was a little hesitant to get one because of that but on his first trip out we rode far enough that he ran out of fuel. That was about 83 or 87 miles, can't remember which. And those weren't easy miles cuz we were all having fun with it and stabbin the throttle every chance we got. We all had our fuel lights blinking and were expecting to run out at any time, he was the only one that ran out but he had putted around my buddies house and maybe put 5 to 7 Miles on it before we went out on our big ride. If the rest of us would have put the same miles on our wheelers that he did we might have ran out as well. We feel they were all very close in fuel mileage.

I wish I had a renegade 1000r! That thing looks like a beast!! I do radar runs with atvs and ive heard that the renegade 1000r is the fastest stock atv you can buy. CW Hobbies has a sportsman 1000 and raced a 2018 renegade 1000r and got his butt kicked in a race. I hope I can get one soon!
@curtisbull1583
@curtisbull1583 6 жыл бұрын
B Breckner It no doubt has great power, stock to stock I don't think any other quad can tough it. It's biggest down fall is weight, it can be beat by stock 450 and possibly a raptor in the sand. Otherwise the renegade is faster from start to finish. 6hp increase with just a PC5 and dyno tune. Pipes with tuner may get to the 100hp or above with no Internals.

Yah, the guy with the renegade in the video said that before he had a 2016 renegade 1000 with the rev and speed limiter off and the 2018 1000r was still faster and it wasnt even broken in! Thats insane! Could you do a top speed video of your renegade?

B Breckner I will work on it, might be a while though. Down here in the south for work. Not to many places to open her up where I ride. I don't take it much here either, I'm still not ready to stain this, still new looking renegade, with the red clay they have down here. I post a top speed run as soon as I get the chance. I can tell you, I've been in the mid 70 range, feels like there is at least another 5 to 10 mph. Although never paid much attention to the Speedo going that fast, seems I'm more concerned about what's in front of me. Lol

Great review comparing all 3 ATVs. I only wish you had a Brute Force to include in the line up. I currently own a 450 King Quad and would like more power. I pondered a Can Am but concerned about reliability and diff failure since I ride mostly deep water and mud. Mud n Wheels makes a great rear diff replacement for the Rene plus Torq makes a front locker.

OG BB Yeah, I wish I had a Brute Force as well. I spent a lot of time on can ams, Yamahas and Suzuki's. Haven't spent enough time on a Kawasaki to say much about it. But I did race one last year with my grizzly, he had 30s and still walked away from me like I was nothing. If I could go back I definitely buy The Brute Force instead of the grizzly. I almost bought the Brute Force when I was looking, the only two things that kept me from it was I expecting this new 16 grizzly to be much faster and quicker than the old ones therefore possibly being about the same as the Brute. Boy was I wrong. The second issue was the grizzly has much better ground clearance and has arched A-Arms from the factory, at least in the front. After saying all that honestly, the king quad with some upgraded shocks would be an awesome machine between the two. My biggest complaint with the King Quad is its suspension. The power is good, way better than the grizzly and the steering is much better on a Suzuki. Meaning when you turn it it turns, the king quad doesn't have any kind of a push in the front end or feel like you got a bunch of extra weight in the back end. 750 King Quad is it pretty hard machine to beat. I just wish they would offer better shocks. Hopefully one of these days I can meet up with somebody with a Brute Force.

Troy Teddy The king quad is no doubt a great machine, it has real good low end power, specially for a single cylinder. A clutch kit will be a good mod, very noticeable. Just watch your Tire weights, they start getting really heavy once you pass the 26, 27 inch mark. Heavy tires are a major hp killer.

Nice video Curtis On your grizzly, try so different tires, I also Have the swap lite tires on my 2016 Can am 1000R, they are squirrly at high speeds, and they do push at times, but they do grip on rock & hard pack, thats my riding style. I have a QSC & STM clutch Assy. on my can am, and what a difference that makes, $ 1700.00 later but well worth it.

Stevo Reno I keep herein about how awesome clutch kits are on the Can am, but the price sucks, lol. Tried 3 different sets of tires on the grizzly with the same results. Pretty convinced it's the machine not tires. I don't think any Tire is going to keep the can am's from being squirrely, lol. With that kinda power I figure it's what happens with high hp atv's. Fun machines though!!

@@cbull316 to be honest I'm keeping my stock Suzuki rims, so I think it's a 26. I know I would have to upgrade the clutch etc to go bigger, which I figure I wont do. Its fast enough for me being a 750. Lol. I know the tires that come on it are ok but I can get better apparently. If I stay with a 26 inch tire I assume there is still a good selection? Off Road Quest YAMAHA Like I said, I've tried 3 different sets and the ones on it now turn the best. I'm quite sure yours still don't turn like others do, your just not riding it conditions where it is noticeable, or you haven't spent enough time back to back on another machine, if so then most likely this other machine does the same thing. A fact, poor turning radius compared to others, including the older grizzlies. Look it up, it's in the specs.

Get a lot of switching around I guess. I finally got fed up with the Yamaha and the Can-Am about the same time and ended up trading them both off on a 4-seat RZR that I thought would be better suited for a family of four. And although the razor is a lot of fun it's proven to be a bit unreliable it's hard to know if you're going to make it back to the truck when you take it out. I did end up getting a good deal on a 19 King Quad and so far I'm enjoying that quite a bit. The Can-Am was a lot of fun when it was working but it gave me quite a few issues, issues that I don't expect from the king quad. And so far I've had zero issues with a king quad. I'm getting to the point where I'm willing to sacrifice some power for reliability and a machine that I can just ride and don't have to work on much.

And would you recommend get the standard model and getting some nice shocks for it?
@curtisbull1583
@curtisbull1583 6 жыл бұрын
Would I recommend a R1000? It would depend on the person. First off these R are no doubt a blast to ride, the power is really fun! But it's hard to get over the $14000 I had to give for it. Already had 2 electrical issues, starter switch, and 4x4 switch. Plus I have had 2 CV boots tare right on the edge by the boot clamp. An issue that was clearly defective. First one can am warrantied second one was after warranty and on me. One thing that really bugs me is how mud gets thrown from under the fenders, it gets everywhere, on top of the motor, wiring, fues box, and on fuel tank. For a picky guy it's a real pain to clean. If I even think it's going to be muddy I ride something else that is easier to clean. I guess because it cost so much I tend to think of it as some kinda jewl and can't stand leaving any part of it dirty. I only have about 600 miles on it and never take it through deep mud holes. Even still, I'm not totally frustrated with it. The suspension has settled in a bit now and finely I've got the right adjustments made to the suspension that makes it pretty good. But I still think a guy would be better off buying a base model where he could probably get a better deal on then buy suspension that is perfect for you, for less money. Color and suspension is pretty much the only difference from the xxc to the base. If I was to go back in time I would take a much harder look at the Kawasaki brute force 750. With a few mods I think it would have been just as fun, or close, at a cheaper price. Really wanted a sxs too, and still do. As much money as I paid for the thing, I could have boughten one. For a high dallor sxs such as a x3 I would have had to spend more, but not t far away with already spending 14000 grand. And that's before any taxes were paid. Like I said it would really depend on the person, this R is lot of fun to ride. Keep in mind that if you buy one and later want something else, don't expect to get anywhere close to what you paid. The thing still looks new and only has around 600 miles on it, yet trade values, at least in the places I've been, are hitting me at $6000 to $8000. Check Renegade trade in values in your area first if you think you might want something else later on.

Upgrade to 14in wheel,s and a decent cleet for tire,s make,s a world of difference.. Just did this to my 2018 700 Le.
