From my days of building custom Harley's here's the issue I have seen with these vacuum fluid evacuators is that even they are pretty cool and they do get the majority of the oil out. It will not get all the metal particles that are on the very bottom which when you drain it the normal way pulls the majority of the particles as it's draining out of the bottom of the sump. Remember metal particles are what cause wear on the engine. Now the argument I hear all the time is that there is always going to be a small amount of metal particles even if you drain it the right way and the answer is yes, but a lot less than if you use an evacuator. Of course, if you are changing out your vehicles every 3 to 5 years then it would not be an issue but if you keep your vehicles around as long as I do then taking the time to do the oil change the proper way with oil changes every 5000 miles. Remember oil is cheap compared to a new engine. Great job either way guys... 👍🏼
@ExcelsiorDDZ3 жыл бұрын
I agree, especially on that FIRST oil change in order to collect the microscopic shavings. I believe that @Thrillmousemoto was on his second oil change even though he mentions it was his first.
@RonConsumer3 жыл бұрын
@@ExcelsiorDDZ Actually, from his videos, I think this is his first oil change even I did not change my oil as the dealer said it needed an oil change after the break-in period which there is no indication in the owner's manual for this. The only scheduled oil change is at 6K.

The primary plug has a magnet on it and should be cleaned off. Plus it's a good way to tell if you are having any wear problems before the engine fails.

Watching your video to assist in my first oil change on 900 ace. I have the oil extractor similar to the one you used in the video- I have only got 1.5 liters out, which is about 1.6 quarts. The tubing is in about 8 inches- does it go deeper?

Just letting you know! It’s better off taking off oil the drain plug rather than using that manual extractor. Why: you want that metal particles drain with the oil. Don’t be so lazy that’s going to damage your engines. I have that manual extractor I did once in my car. I check in the bottom I saw metal particles around in the oil drain plug.
