Wonderful insight into the life of an ostimate. Thank you so much for sharing. I am joining you in 2 weeks. My question is how long was your recovery time after first having your operation? Like, how long before you were able to get back to normal everyday life?

Please ask anything now that I’m back, I’m feeling strong enough to continue my KZbin journey with you once again ☺️💖

Hellooo😍 I've a fairly new ileostomy...after having a few previously and a happyish stint with a j pouch. Your accent is lovely. Im very jealous you folks have vanilla blush. There is nothing like it in canada. They have lovely bathing suits. I am also not shy or afraid to answer questions. But the severe scarring has bothered me in the self esteem department. My clothing choices have changed alot but my stoma is placed in a weird spot so no jeans work. Wish I could irrigate like you do. Have you seen the lovely stoma cap jewels for colostomates?

Hi screaminmeani, nice to meet you! Sorry it's taken a while to reply, mental health calamity, boo... So yes, vanilla blush are amazing! I'm surprised there's nothing like it in Canada (I LOVE Canada by the way :) ), have you asked them if they'll ship internationally? Scarring can be a big reason for people's lack of confidence...you could pop over to my Facebook group Ostomates United Exhibition Planning and look at all of the great photos, a lot of the people on there exude confidence and have lots of major scarring...if you see other people feeling confident it might give you a little boost :) On a side note, I love the Canadian accent! :) Clothing can be difficult, there is a new company here in the uk who are making tailor made jeans that fit your body and pouch position, if I find the name I'll come back here and tell you...I think it's a little pricey but maybe worth it for a great pair of jeans... Good luck with your new little stoma friend :) x

I really enjoy your thoughts and an advice, but, please please don't tar old people with the same brush ...it like me say young mums are all impatient.. just because they are mums..

Hiya, thanks for your comment. I did say that the stories I had heard from many people, were particularly of elderly people, which I have experienced myself. It involves people of a certain age being more likely, in mine and other’s experience, to kick up a bit of a fuss if you don’t look like a ‘disabled’ person. I have great respect for older people, I was simply saying that experience from myself and others I had spoken to, it was that demographic that tended towards asking whether you actually have a disability.

@@GotStomaVlogostomy hi do understand it's a hidden disability , I can only cite from my experience being 64 (and grumpy 😂) no doubt classed as elderly by many it mostly the young mums that pull faces when I use the disabled loos...lol I think we are both saying please be tolerant of all.. Keep up the great show you are a breath of fresh air.. thanks for what you do.

@@kevf58 oh my goodness, I don’t class you as elderly AT ALL…! Not by a long shot ☺️ My mum is 66 and would be very angry if I said she was old, let alone elderly 🫣 She is like my sister at heart 😍 When I say elderly I mean people in their 80’s and older, who often use disabled toilets here in the UK… I think that there is somewhat of a disconnect between that generation and my own when it comes to things like that, I still get the odd look from people when I use the disabled toilet and I haven’t got my walking stick… So… You’re not elderly, that’s for sure! And yes, tolerance is a wonderful thing xx
