Can I ask you a question that I've been thinking about recently. I don't know any French people so I'd love to hear it from you. Does it ever cross your mind (especially when playing against the Springboks) how many players have extremely French sounding names? Even on this podcast there's Jean de Villiers. His centre partner for many years was Jaque Fourie. There are 4 or 5 Francois playing for the current Springbok team. I'm not saying it should be notable, I just wonder if it is :D

Maybe the kiwi way is just a bit more low key not over the top off the charts sensationalist keo and zels style. In all our criticisms of the Boks, we have to keep in mind that Rassie is juggling at least two balls here 1. continue winning 2. jell the new and old lads (building). Other teams are losing games in the name of building, yet Boks continue to win while building. I wonder, what the perfect game looks like. A win means perfect game to me. I don't regard mistakes as imperfection, rather it shows that we were again a really good team. Danko

Love this show as an Irish fan with a fondness for the Boks having spent lots of my childhood in Cape Town. For Ireland, there are bundles of talented players coming through but there will be a transition period which has started this November which people need to accept if we are ever to take that step as a true force at World Cups. In the backrow, Cormac Izuchukwu, Ryan Baird and Cian Prendergast are the key contenders for the 6 shirt at the moment. Behind this group, Brian Gleason, Ruadhan Quinn, James Culhane all have the potential to be top class 6/8s. At 7 van der Flier is still quite clearly the best choice but Nick Timoney is a good player as is John Hodnett at Munster. This being said, Sean Edogbo is one to watch both in the short and long terms. In the second row his brother Edwin is a serious operator as is Evan O’Connell (Paul’s nephew) and Alan Spicer (6’10 and 140kg) is a unique athlete who is still a few years off but has serious potential. Prop is a concern but again there are players coming through. In the backs, every position has really good talent coming through and with a bit of Munster bias I really believe Crowley deserves to be backed until at least 2027 as the first choice 10. Sam Prendergast is talented of that there is no doubt as too is Ciaran Frawley but Ireland play their best with a clear first choice general at 10 and Crowley has shown he has the temperament and ability to be that player at just 24. That ladies and gentlemen was my Ted Talk. Thanks for the great show lads, keep it up!

1. More Lood 2. Voice activated timer for when the ref says ‘use it’ at the ruck and counts down in his ear and on screen 3. More replays during the game and better camera work 4. Highlights packages…jeez no build up play to tries but 30 seconds of watching a conversion and the kicker running back… 5. Use it rule combined with no more shepherding has made the game quicker and exciting.

I find it remarkable that a country like South Africa that has history tied to the Dutch have a completely different approach to Rugby from the Dutch approach to Football/Soccer... Springboks = Practical (Winning is the goal ALWAYS!) Holland = Soccer Romantics, we play the beautiful Total Football, have not won a world cup... I am a practical person personality wise I guess that is why I am attracted to the Springboks in Rugby, and Germany in Soccer at the national team level... The above is just an opinion, and I could be wrong so relax! 😃
@cobusbrits2Ай бұрын
I think the descendants of the Dutch when they came to the Cape all those years ago are so different from the Dutch of today its chalk from cheese. The average white Afrikaans speaking dude has a lot of French and some German blood in him. Not to mention some Malay slave blood as well. The bloody South African history has bred some violence into the mix as well. You put the 'descendants of the Dutch' with the fleetfooted coloureds and beefy blacks and you have choas on rollerskates dressed in green and gold. No romantic fluff for us thank you. Just kidding..

The denied try by the English because of itoje’s neck role also had a CLEARLY forward pass ( the last pass). It was a lot more clearly forward than Fasi’s pass to Arendse. There were no comments on that by the commentators during the game, the ref, or the TMO.

When you play with pride, for your team, your teammates snd your country, you get the springboks. They can be beaten, but they dont let that hold them vack. When you see the respect and love they have for each other, especially for their captain Siya "My Captain" Kolisi.
