Must he cut the hair to show he has authority to do so. If it's about going to school he could have enrolled the boy into a formal school to proof his point. Despite the hair like Sampson was in the book of judges. He could have rather raised the child to be a prophet of God as a Nazirite like Sampson. We should remember that God created all things including the lesser gods so if the okomfour said he will be a prophet could be in his view of traditional prophet but the pastor should have seen through it. His action was a zeal without direction. It's true that God is truly divine and none above him yet Jesus who is God in the form of human being agreed to pay his temple tax and instructed Peter to go and get the coin from the mouth of a fish. The Jews don't regard the money Rome was taken as tax as legitimate so they use the Shekel to pay to God but Romans took their currency for tax. Jesus didn't rebelled and said he won't pay but said give to Caesar what is his and to God what belongs to God. As a prophet what does hair cutting got to do with God's work based on what someone has said. If he had a spiritual eyes at that particular moment he would have acted a bit wisely. Am not trying to say he is not a man of God but there is one thing that most men of God should be honest about is that when God doesn't say anything they should be silent but most of them want to have something to do or say as if it was God's direction. Those in the spiritual environment will say the prophet is scared of the future of the boy so he wanted to make him an ordinary person. Most so called men of God are doing things to downplay the work of other pastors as if they are the right people.
