JKD was the 1st modern era mixed martial art. The people that propose that Bruce Lee wouln't have survived in an mma fight completely discount the fact that to Bruce JKD was always an evolving thing. He added grappling via Gene Label. He was about adding what he felt was usefull to fighting.
@andresvalentin69244 жыл бұрын
Not only that. JKD wasn't intended for competition. It's for the street. It does contain many things we see in modern MMA but it's not intended for that environment.

Bruce Lee advocated being knowledgable in all ranges and aspects of fighting.

This is what Bruce would've wanted to see. He was incorporating grappling just before his death. God only knows where he would've taken JKD if he didn't leave us so early.

Why would bruce be the only person capable of doing that lots of people learned his principles and it hasn't happened in the last 40 yrs.
@francosalinas44594 жыл бұрын
Bruce Lee was legit. If he were still alive today JKD would have definitely incorporated BJJ.
@francosalinas44594 жыл бұрын
Victor Mace it might have it now, of course. But Bruce passed away before adding a good amount of that. Others have added that in.

Nice video, trapping to grappling feels like a natural transition 👍

That was cool! When you start exploring the concepts of movement it opens a lot of doors. Awesome video!

I've always felt that a lot of wing chun/JKD trapping worked best for GnP.

Trapping, which is found in many different types of martial arts are highly effective. 😎👍🏼 Just like anything though, practical training of the actual application and having trained for other possible outcomes it was pays dividends in the real deal. 🙏🏼😎 Good video though. 👍🏼

All of this looks great provided -the guy on the left just completely plants his feet and doesn't move at all while all these combos are happening to him -the guy on the left lets his lead arm just sit there paralyzed after it got slapped -the guy on the left doesn't just throw a left hook to the guy on the rights completely exposed chin while all of this is happening The knee tap in the clinch was nice though. As for the rest, lets see some footage of it pressure tested because it doesn't seem very realistic

It's the obsession to force unrealistic techniques to work
@MaharlikaAWA4 жыл бұрын
I think this video is plausible but every technique has counters and weaknesses. It would be better for people like this to admit there could be counters or issues to watch out for and if the enemy gets out of it then you will transition to another technique. That is how I teach stuff. Also explore the transitions to another concept.
@driver38994 жыл бұрын
@@MaharlikaAWA The problem is not counters, I am talking about how any person in a real fight is going to react. They will not stand there in this pose 1:25 That is what someone in a jkd or combat wingchun class is going to do but its an unnatural response. Real fight look like this (taken from a current world star fight video) kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2mcl6l9mcdoaKM kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2mcl6l9mcdoaKM kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2mcl6l9mcdoaKM See the big differences? The guy on theft of this video never tries to retract or throw with his left hand after it got slapped, just stands completely still while these combos are done to him. A real fight people swing constantly left and right punches or grab and move around like crazy. Those are not really counter moves, its just the nature of actually fighting
@MaharlikaAWA4 жыл бұрын
@@driver3899 in my opinion those are still counter moves or better yet, reaction moves.
@driver38994 жыл бұрын
@@MaharlikaAWA That's one way to look at it but I mean with a real fight the guy is just going to be throwing as many punches as possible regardless It's not so much a calculated tactic to counter anything as much as just trying to get the ko asap Any real world techniques need to be able to work against that kind of pressure
